Prosperity and economic growth are often confused as being the same thing. They are not! Economic growth is only one aspect of prosperity that often accompanies and may facilitate growth in other areas (components) of prosperity, but not necessarily so. Economic growth on its own does not guarantee greater inclusivity, tolerance, moral values, freedom of speech, access to education, voting rights, general freedom from crime, access to information, freedom to travel or association, access to capital for business etc. True prosperity encompasses all of these (and more) and reflects who we are inside. As a lifelong committed capitalist, I believe that true prosperity is much more than merely economic growth.
