What Is Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE)? | Manufacturing Insights
Tune in as our VP of Products, Jason Toschlog, discusses how overall equipment effectiveness (OEE) is defined in the manufacturing industry.
OEE, the gold standard for measuring productivity, is the percentage of manufacturing time that is truly productive. An OEE of 100% means that only good parts are produced at the maximum speed and without interruption. This number can grade a machine, line, product, shift, plant, or company. OEE also helps identify where problems are located, so action can be taken to improve production. It does not identify the exact problem. By optimizing OEE, manufacturers can increase capacity, reduce costs and scrap, improve quality, and/or boost efficiency in their manufacturing processes.
