What Is On My Wrist: 1959 Breitling Navitimer (Ref. 806) “AOPA” Venus 178

Тәжірибелік нұсқаулар және стиль

In this episode of "What Is On My Wrist" Cam takes us through a very early 1959 Breitling Navitimer Ref 806. The Breitling Navitimer is an evolution of the 1942 Breitling Chronomat, with its typical slide rule bezel. Breitling decided to improve this highly practical bezel and in 1952, the Navitimer was born. This slide rule bezel was used to calculate complicated operations without any other tool. In 1952, the very first Navitimer adorned the “Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association” (AOPA) emblem on its dial!

I have this watch. Great review. From what I understand this watch is 40mm and not 41mm. The reason I am mentioning this to you is that the remake of this watch made one change and that it went from the original 40mm to 41mm of the reissue. Mine has the infamous mistamping of the case. There were some that were mistamped with a reference for 1953 eventhough its a 1960. I think it adds to the story of the watch. Love it with that leather strap and agee the 22mm width really adds to the look of the watch. The Navitimer was truly ahead of its time.

Fantastic video! I have a 1962 806 which was the last of the radium dials. Out of interest how high was yours reading on the counter? That’s one thing I’m definitely a little bit concerned about with mine... thanks!

Nice video, i love your style! But still here the "historical mistake": the very first navitimers had valjoux movement, then they shifted to venus ;) just for info guys. Cheers
