I keep recommending my friends 'to stock up on truth'. They look at me with glazed eyes and a blank expression... I have a feeling we will have a shortage of truth in the future, don't forget toilet paper too!! Truth cannot be destroyed, by definition of natural law, that is what makes something true. Everybody can choose not to believe in it, or it can be hidden and obfuscated even for centuries, but truth cannot be destroyed. Right now people willingly choose not to seek truth, but in the future their instinct and metabolism will require the truth, but it will be hidden and unavailable for them... So please study natural law and stock up on truth!

That being said, it’s the Indian, not the arrow. And I have fond memories of watching The Rifleman episodes with my parents when I was growing up. It was my parents favorite show. You're a good man, thank you for obliging us and our questions! On the topic of old TV shows, I believe the BEST series of the Western genre is 'Have Gun Will Travel'. Much along the lines of the also liked 'Rifleman', each episode was based on lifetime lessons, morals, integrity, honesty. Paladin was ahead of his time and Richard Boone was truly an inspirational actor for a kid like me. I'm not sure he realized just how important his impact was on his audience! I think it was significant and while he has passed on, I only wish that while he was here that he knew the big impact he had on his audience and his role as Paladin. It's something that I believe he would've valued had he known it or even comprehended it in his life.

@Hickok45 Mine for my 380 only is Precision One, for everything else (9mm) it's been the Hornady FTX or the critical defense. But I haven't been forced yet to use it in defense praise the Lord. But none of it has changed color or degraeded and every year, I dump the mag at the range with no issues and clean and lubricate the mag and reload. And I like that fact. Life is threat assement. Avoiding the conflict is the primary and most effective countermeasure. As my momma said, "nothing good happens after midnight".

I was pleased to find that the Hornady Custom +P .200 gn XTP .45 ACP load ran exactly the same through my Oehler - 1060 fps - as my pet handload with 7.0 grains of Unique. GOOD load, btw. I like the 185 grain Cor-Bon, too...it's got more energy, but it's got some distracting muzzle flash like a hot 125 grain .357 in a short barrel.

There aren’t very many guys my age that personally have Hickock 45’s depth and width of experience in doing what many people want to learn how to do. To navigate an increasingly dangerous world while living a life of de-escalation, escape, and avoidance of trouble for our family. I feel like I had a cup of coffee with an old friend.

I like this format. One suggestion, if I may. New shooters are most likely the ones asking questions, so in light of that you need to be more specific sometimes. Like with carry ammo…what bullet weight? Plus P or regular? And what are the advantages of that round? You can still keep it brief, however😂. Thanks!

I use Hornady Critical Defense across the board. For practice I reload using Hornady XTP bullets with enough powder to copy the Critical Defense load. Came up with the recipe using my Chronograph.

Just to muddy the waters on cartridges, The 44-40 will not chamber in a 44 magnum but will chamber in a 45 colt. One of the great advantages of the "Peacemaker" . I have fired the 44-40 in my Ruger Valquaro. All that happened was the case blew out to fill the chamber of the 45 Colt. In a pinch you can shot both out of your 45 LC. Clay

I used to carry only Federal JHP and shoot it out every 2 to 3 years. Since the pandemic and ammo price insanity I pick up whatever is in stock, on sale and from a reputable manufacturer, Sig, Norma, Ammo Inc, Winchester etc.

In response to a viewer ?, John M Browning stated in the 1910s, the BEST load for his "new" single action 1911 model was 230gr. He explained the gun was T&Eed around round nose, 230gr FMJ & JHPs. Not all types of semi wadcutter, flat tip or fancy ammunition.

I agree with the Federal HST. My carry in .45 for years. But as you said, there are a lot of good carry ammo out there from a lot of different manufacturers. When it gets down to .380, I prefer the extreme defense, (Screwdriver bullets). And yes, number one in any carry ammo is function. If it doesn't work, it isn't as good as ball ammo.

I had the Remington Golden Saber 10gr in my 380 S&W Bodyguard. But I just changed it out with American Eagle 95gr FMJ the other day. I got my 1st revolver at age 12. It was a used $20 RG 22 snub nose. I carried that gun everywhere I went around our small farm in the 70's. I'm almost 60 now- and I've carried every since then. Almost every type of handgun and calibers and bullet types. I'm 6 years prior service. FMJ was what we carried in all of our weapons. I felt ok using those rounds, and I honestly still feel ok with FMJ and round nose lead. I know that attitude isn't popular now, but that is just how I am. I do carry hollow points too. I've got ammo cans full of the latest and greatest rounds that are now looked down on. I honestly like the reliability and cost of the non-hollow points. I personally think "over penetration" is way over worried about. I guess like most guys, I constantly change my mind on what to load up with. But reliability is my first concern. I have to have a bullet- gun combo that I trust. I have lost sleep when I've had malfunctions. I have to totally trust my carry gun and ammo.

I dug up a older box of Critical Duty .40 & loaded my 2.0 M&P with it. Critical Duty ammunition is not bad. Bill Wilson of Wilson Combat dislikes it. He's not big on the red polymer tip. Wilson does say the best wt for 9mm is around 135gr.

@@DavidLLambertmobile I'm sure that you already know this but over time the ammo powder will decay causing the velocity to drop. Critical to the expansion of hollow points you need to keep your velocity to design specks. So, always load your EDC with newer ammo and replace it every year.

@@andypeterson8013 I think replacing carry ammo yearly is a bit excessive, ammo can last decades, with very little change in velocity.
