Find out here! Thanks again for all of your support, all! Especially with the RPM video! This is kind of a test vid with recording with X-plane 11! Woot! Cheers!

I have an 11 year old laptop endearingly called "the Craptop". X Plane is on mobile, which is ideal for me but if Flight Simulator was on mobile, at least as detailed as X Plane, I'd LOVE to play it! Hopefully, irl, going to Flight School this summer and used to fly as a teen. 32 now and after my brother and grandfather passed this year, I'm determined to follow my dream and stop making excuses like I have been. 3 year old daughter is also counting on me, so wish me luck at Flight School, everyone! (Thanks for this video btw, it actually helps practically as well!)

Back when I was new to aviation I didn’t know that one lever on my throttle quadrant controlled mixture. So I would punch it all the way up at take off stall the engine and get so frustrated because I didn’t know what was causing the problem. Wish I could have seen this video back then! Very well explained!

Regarding the EGT (Exhaust gas temperature)... This is actually the key to trimming the mixture at altitude... you want it as hot as possible, this indicates that ALL the fuel is being burned. at altitude you want to trim the mixture to make the EGT as high as possible to conserve fuel. this whole procedure is generally not necessary below 3000 feet AGL... your mileage may vary.

@@Sifo_Dyas 3000 ft MSL because it depends on air pressure and amount of O2 in the air. If we would use AGL but airfield is 6000 ft MSL full mixture would prove the engine has lower power because of wrond mixture setting on hight altitude over the MSL. It is quite dangerous situation.

Seems like the mixture is essentially the choke for an airplane motor.. yes??

Pssst... all my cars have fuel injection and my lawnmower is electric, so what's a choke??? J/K -- this is a GREAT analogy (except that it works the OTHER way, by regulating the amount of fuel rather than by restricting the flow of air -- but the result is pretty much the same)!

You must be a student pilot just starting your training -- the Cub absolutely DOES have a mixture control, it's the red knob on the right (and the carb heat is there as well)! Of course, in the Cub it doesn't get much use -- UNLESS you're flying in the mountains or over the high prairies, then you ABSOLUTELY NEED it!
