This guy was a helicopter pilot in the army, got out and became an astronaut. That's badass.

When all the teachers and doubtful people say you need a Maths degree, Physics degree, Astronomy degree or whatever, this man was a helicopter pilot in the Army and was great at his Job, had a D in Maths at school according to him in the video.....see kids, if you have the personality and attitude to do something you love and are passionate about it, never give up on your dreams because you can have all the education and degrees you want, but if you attitude is not suitable your education will never matter. Great inspiration for someone like me, who is not the best at subjects like Mathematics and Physics, but I try my best everyday to meet my passions and goals, and who dreams of a career in Aerospace and Aviation! To whoever reads this and hopes for an Aerospace career, never let anyone discourage you, because when you believe, everything is possible!! Have a blessed day everyone

Being a working pilot means following lots of procedures, getting the boring stuff right every single time, having calm and measured judgement even under pressure, and mostly just doing what other people require you to do all day without complaining. If you can handle all that with good humour, then that's the "right stuff". If you can be happy doing that, then you can be satisfied whether or not you get to go to space. For this kind of thing, boring is good! If you can keep everything boring, then you've done your job right. If things get exciting then something has gone badly wrong.

I’m an aircraft maintenance engineer and I’m training to become a pilot and I didn’t do good in maths at all! It really is possible, it just depends on your approach and mindset.

Biology A Chemistry A/B+ Mathematics B-/C- Physics D/C Acient greek A History A/B English A Computer class A/B And Dont look these this arent always perfect in my country the A for us is 20/20 I was never perfect in my class i have to say that evry boy in my class is an asshole accept my friend I am at highschool last class 3rd Btw in greece the the school system goes in the opposite direction i will be forced to write more subject exams so yea i will be forced to study the last i wait from them is to talk bad to students like they did in the 60s and punish them by hitting them thats my daily life

Tim Peake is a hero of mine. I've read his book, "Ask an Astronaut", several times over. I wish people knew just how incredible these guys are. They are the best of the best in the world. Truly remarkable humans

He’s a lier space can’t exist as they claim because it violates the second law of thermodynamics...In order to have gas pressure you must have a container for the gas to press on..if we have an open system then the gas we breathe would fill the space because of entropy increase. This guy has been caught faking zero g with wires and harnesses...search and see Nasa fakery ...and Astronauts on wires. This guy has been caught on camera with a type of green screen behind him and a ball. They say low earth orbit is the furthest they can go about three times. This guy is a pretender clown , how dare you lie to everyone, you will have to answer for this one day. You who do not check what I’ve said here are willingly ignorant which is your choice but it’s a shame.

it's probably also an extremely stressful job though, knowing that sometimes even just one very tiny mistake can literally kill you and some of your colleagues. definitely not the kind of responsibility i'd want to have on a day-to-day basis.

This man is exceptional but also check out Astronaut Mike Mossimo. He's a regular guy from Brooklyn.

You find the most interesting people to interview. My feed always pops up with these fascinating topics that I've always been curious about but never explored myself. So interesting to hear these experiences from people who have careers or stories we could never possibly imagine. Props to you for producing such great content. As a journalist, I have a lot of respect for this channel and I am inspired.

That story is pretty incredible. Listening to intelligent people talk articulately about something so few people will ever experience is amazing and inspiring. I’m really loving these LADbible videos I just found.

You can actually find a gif of it. A guy was hiding and no one knew it was up there and scared the crap out of the other guy 🤣

What really struck me on this, is I know just how dedicated and precise they are about every bit they put on a ship to know how much fuel it takes. Making room for a gorilla suit I'm sure they agreed on then he probably asked not to tell the others means they valued their mental status and happiness to high enough of a degree to put a gorilla suit into space just to make someone smile. This is brilliant all in itself.

I agree. That struck me too. And the things he said about the selection process emphasis on "soft skills" - interpersonal skills, being able to get along with others, not being arrogant or obnoxious. I guess that's why so many astronauts are likeable and a pleasure to listen to, like this guy, who comes across as someone you'd just enjoy having a beer with. The importance of these things is usually only mostly understood by women, so it's great to see it in a field dominated by men. Men need to observe women more, and see how many of them can get along in a group despite their differences, by being collegiate rather than hierarchical. Parliaments across the world certainly need to learn more "soft skills" lol, it's absurd watching the adversarialism and childish hostility opposing parties fling at each other. They need to grow the frak up.

What an extraordinary life this gentleman has lived, can only imagine the tales he tells his children/grandchildren, absolutely fantastic!

When he gave a probable date for Human to mars mission, all my hairs stood on end. I wasn't born when the moon landing happened and I missed out on that, but I always hoped I would be alive to witness the first Mars landing which I feel is even more incredible because it would be the first planet, instead of our own lunar satellite. I don't think I will be alive or even be able to afford a trip to mars if ever they were to do such missions for civilians but the dream is real

Trust me, age won't effect your dreams. I mean, depending on the dream.. and the age.. Also, it's probably not the best idea to trust a stranger but hopefully you get the gist. xD

While the thought of space travel terrifies me (I got scared of heights watching 'Gravity'), I can only imagine the beauty of looking at earth from that view. I have heard it described as jewel-like by other astronauts and cosmonauts with a sense of wonder; we can only dream of having that view.

How fascinating: just previous to this I watched the interview with Jihyun who escaped North Korea, and it is a f'n TRIP to contrast her life experience with Tim Peake's! Thank you for these unique views on human lives!

I believe a time would come when if someone says "I have been to space" a solid response will come back "So what, everyone has gone to space"

Our school was shit mate especially the maths teachers, I had a pe teacher for maths and science and I went to the same school as him had the same science teacher for a bit too

Yuri is also an old piece of hardware I'm sure but nobody has more experience with docking the Soyuz. I'm sure thats like... his entire job and he spends the entire rest of the time getting drunk and doing crosswords.

@@shelnut2842 You do fall, indefinitely technically since the velocity just counteracts gravity. Technically speaking you fall indefinitely rather than not falling ;)

Have a question If an emergency happens in the ISS, can they come to Earth in that moment? Do they have the tools/vehicle to do that?

Yes, they come up in a rocket so can egress into the same rocket. Not sure about those astronauts though that satay up there for longer
