    Been there, worked there, loved the place. Here are the pros: - Great weather. The shore is public no matter the location, just don't be a dickhead and squat on people's land because that can get you in trouble. - Calmer and more relaxed than the bigger islands like the Bahamas/Hawaii, etc. - Great beaches. - No taxes paid on income/capital gains. - Great place to do business or start up a fund/investment company. - The locals don't mind tourists at all as long as you don't cause trouble. - Night life is decent. Many parties around and it's relatively easy to socialize for a lone wolf traveler. Cons: - The usual cons of living in an island (Insects, humidity, etc). - The cost of living is expensive. Remember that this place is a tax haven where a lot of the world's powerful folks stash their money, and many wealthy people live there (Both working folks or just wealthy persons who retired early). Also, the financial sector is the biggest sector in the island, and the people working there make high salaries as professionals. The result is an inflated cost of living. Expect to pay 3-5x what you would pay back home for rent, food, and other things. Don't go there if the only job you can find is being a tourist guide or something lowly paid, you will struggle with money relatively quickly and you'll be forced to go back home in no time. - Real estate is very expensive, even if you decide to move there, don't expect to own a house unless you are in the 1% or you inherited land from a family member. And no, the banks won't lend you money to buy a house priced in the millions range if you make a middle class income. - Roads are tight and mostly in bad conditions, don't expect to have a fun time driving a car. - Contrary to popular belief, even if the place looks like paradise, if you move there permanently, you will get bored within a few months and you'll feel the need to get out of the island and explore the world.

    relating to real estate and by the looks on your profile, Vancouver is the same thing. Been there for many many years. And as well, depending your job you can apply for a mortgage. If you work for diving company don't expect to buy a house there... but for some others you can buy a house in Cayman. I know ex-pats who work here and do own their own house. Plus if you want to stay here for the 9 years or more you need to give cayman islands gov't a reason to keep you, example like a business or real estate ownership. plus they like selling to outsiders as they have a stamp tax of 7.5% for non locals. I Do really like your point of view and it is pretty spot on.

    Jerry, thank you a lot for sharing with your point of view about Cayman Islands. It is interesting to know your evaluation of a business environment in Cayman Islands for SME businesses, something like drinking water and ice cream production, fish farm, healthcare resort & Spa.

    @jjlifestyle9968

    Drinking water is available thru the public water system. though most people prefer to drink bottled water despite it being safe to drink. We do have a few local businesses in which they make Ice Cream. but not to many. as for a fish farm, we just locally fish in our surrounding areas. Health care wise we have 3 major hospitals. Health City , Government Hospital and The Doctors Hospital Chrissie Tomlinson.

If you stay on a sunday, I recommend a brunch at East End in a restaurant called "Tukka" on the way there you can also see Lovers wall, and the Blow Holes. Also, you can take a catamaran during the evening and go watch the sunset on Seven Mile Beach.

    Where else in the world can you find crystal clear water, beautiful beaches, and year round great temperatures ... MANY places. You need to travel more. I live in one such place for about 10% the cost of Cayman. Good luck with your future endevours.

    I've heard on the gay underground that there are a couple areas on the Seven Mile Beach for serious cruising. Condoms and needles everywhere.
