As a Dutch person, it's fantastic to see this guy's interest in Dutch culture. And it seems that I'm not the only Dutch person here... Amazing!

What i did this koningsdag? Had to gett up early to make around 3000 oranje tompoucen and something of 1000 of other oranje sweet things. Did it easy the rest of the day and now drinking some rum to celebrate our king 😅

The party starts the evening before. And something else needs to be mentioned. The day before Kingsday, in every municipality, some people are officially awarded knighthood. They are knighted usually because of their significant achievements for the community. Lifelong volunteers and the like. It's called Lintjesregen.

9am is a perfect time to start drinking on kingsday! you look glorious btw :D

Didn't do that much this year.. watched the King and his family in Emmen on tv , love to see our fashionable Queen and princesses.. ate a orange tompouce from the Hema, watched with a sick child , the 538 Festival Breda on tv, which she would attend but couldn't and in the evening went to a birthday of a friend 🎉

Now I’m very lucky to live in the old city center of a fairly big city, so this is easily one of the most fun days of the year, where we meet up with friends at the flea markets, then eat dinner at someone’s house (differs every year lol) and then go back to the town square for music and drinks until 00:00 easily. Def recommend spending a Kingsday in an old big city once!

9 am sounds like a good time to start drinking to me lol. 😂 I'm Dutch and live in southern California. A couple years ago we went to watch a eurocup soccer game in a pub with other Dutchies. Because of the time difference we got there around 7.30 am. On the drive over there we were debating if we should have a drink or not since it was early and we didn't want to look too crazy. When we arrived, the tables were already FULL of EMPTY beer bottles 😂

Today I went to a big street festivity, in one of the longest streets of my city. All kinds of music, activities for the whole family. Way more choices in foods then Sven said, by the way, boerenkool with smoked sausage and bacon is delicious. I had chicken Saté with Saté sauce. I had a good time, but now back home, floored. Not drunk, after my gastric bypass operation I cannot drink any alcohol beverages anymore. But had fun nonetheless 😊🎉🎊🧡

I was getting drunk in the city Dressed in Orange, celebrating kings day, but Nobody understand it, because i live in spain now😂

Kingsday was chaos. Work in the kitchen of a restaurant. We worked like gracy to get everything out. Everybody was alowed beer. But we did not had any time to even scratch our ass. After work i went to my bar to have a drink. Got drunk really quick and headed home for a meal. That was kingsday this year. Next year i am off, that is gonna be a party.

What I did on koningsdag? Nothing out of the ordinary. Stayed home because down with the flu😅 But raised the flag outside of my home and ate a oranje tompouce and drink a few years. But fun fact, Paleis Soestdijk which was mentioned in first video was close to where I grew up, in fact, my highschool was a few 100 metres from the palace.

I had a altercation with a Italian during kings day because he tried to sell vodka to me😂😂😂😂

I love Kingsday. I get op early in the morning tot see the free market.

I'm not really a partygoer. For me Kingsday is eating an oranje tompouce and giving workshops for kids with the drumband between noon and 2:00 PM. Depending on what kind of music is scheduled later in the afternoon I might hang out in the town center for a bit longer, but often I just go home continueing my life like it's a normal day off.

I watch our King on tv, when he visit the city of Emmen. Than I go to the center of my village and celebrate with all people, the King his birthday 🇳🇱🥳

Well in my village we have a parade in the morning and after that there are typical Dutch games where you can volunteer to help with (which is what I did) and then eat food (and lots of tompoucen) and then there is firework to celebrate the end of Kingsday!! So i'm back on the world! My koningsdag was great drink so much GROLSCH for the king Fun fact; the nickname of the king was back in the days was "prins pils" (prince drinker, i guess. Not that good in english language)

I live in a little village but this year there were two festival tents here so we went 2/3 days. The first day they were open from 3 pm to 1 am and there was a local celeb on stage so it cost money (12,5 euros) and it was sold out. The second day was free. (form 3 pm to midnight) There were a mix of performers mostly singers but also dancers. The third day was sixties night and cost 9 euros. I didnt go to that one bc I'm not a fan of 60s music, I was born in 2000.

Haha, when we didn't have kids yet, we started drinking at 6 in the morning and roam the streets for the good stuff, after 3 hours of sleep after Kingsnight. Parties all over town. Music everywhere. Great. Give the Dutch a reason to go wild "en mass".

I went outside for a bikeride and chill at home.

My little sister made 870euro last year with clothes of my son and things I bought but totally forgot 😅 I also live above a carpet store and every year he gives me Old carpets that he will throw away, if I bring him cookies the next day😂 We didn't sit this year because I have a newborn.

Now i want a worstenbroodje 😢😢😢 guess ill have to wait til my next visit to the Netherlands....

Went to the city center (shopping area) this kingsday.. yeah living hell for me! Before anyone asks: it was not my idea to go :)

To be honest I completely forgot that it was King's Day yesterday until I went to go buy food and saw flags hanging outside. Really I was just hoping that the supermarket would still be open because I forgot to check if it would be closed because of King's Day. Luckily it wasn't. Even though we've had a king for a while now I still forget that the date for this celebration has changed. I'm too used to it being on the 30th of April rather than the 27th. Either way, hope everyone had a lovely celebration!

Yes, kingsday is great! In the morning a tompouce with coffee. Watched the king and family on tv celebrated his birthday in the city called Emmen. Maybe you can watch is back on the tv. In my younger days I went to a city on my bick to celebrate. Amsterdam, Utrecht, Arnhem, Lots off fun. Great memorys every year. On youtube last year I saw a gay who filmed for 3 hours in Amsterdam kingsday. Maybe it still there.

Ever heard of the Dutch saying : "act normal"? As you know the Dutch are everything but normal. And by know, seeing the way you dressed, you'll fit right in and you will be more then welcome. We always appreciate a bit more orange.

I started to watch your recreation video's of the way we live, our special days. Like 4 may DODENHERDENKING, * HONOR OF THE DEATH ( we have 2 minuten silence at 8 pm. Cars pull over sometimes out of respect, NO kids on the streets, nobody.....complete silence. Radio , tv is silence. ( ony 2 channels are live.
