I think Jack is part Borg. The end of episode 4 with him washing his hands and the jumpscare reminds me a lot of the scene with Picard's nightmare in First Contact.

There was a line that the Irumodic Syndrome was a misdiagnosis, and it was really something else. If it was something left behind in Picard from Locutus, then passed on to Jack when he was born, then Jack had it all his life, all through puberty and into adulthood, whereas Picard was already middle aged when he got it, so it affected him differently and eventually killed him. If the pah wraith theory is true, and that's my favourite theory, then Jack's entire existence may well be the result of the pah wraiths, in the same way that Sisko's birth was arranged/ensured by the Prophets. I'm hoping for something in between the 2, meaning it's both. The pah wraiths arranged for Jack to be born because he would then inherit his father's Borg legacy, and become their ultimate weapon.

Just look at the expression on Beverly's face when he says there's something wrong with him ... whatever it is, SHE KNOWS.

I'm hearing a lot of theories. So far it's Pah-wraith, Borg, Protomolecule and Argument. Let's not leave out the Goa'uld. And for honorable mention, let's toss in a Vorlon. 😉

Considering Picard is an artificial construct with a copy of the originals memories playing in his head, what could be weirder than that?

he seems like a purely biological being that can somehow tap into the borg collective. he's displaying signs like when 7 had all those personalities in her head that had different skills. probably a byproduct of locutus. maybe he was more than just a regular borg. maybe an experiment where they could extend the collective beyond the technological. he's had this since he was a kid so it's not a new thing.

Is Jack being transformed to be a Borg hybrid here? One who can distinguiish the Changelings from real humans? That is the reason the Changelings are all after him.

And when she expressed that it was "Evolution" that allowed the Changelings to now be undetected, who is to say that now Jack could be part Borg.. or perhaps some sort of hybrid and that's why the Changelings want him... to be some sort of prototype of a biological weapon. Although with the visions and such, I hope they don't do a "DUNE" thingy where Jack is the Star Trek version of Paul Atrides. I'd vomit if they did.

Possessed by a Pah-Wraith. Fascinating. They're tying this directly to DS9. I heard Avery Brooks had rejected reprising his role in Picard but that he might if the story was right for it. Wouldn't that be cool as hell if we got The Sisko back as a result of of the false prophets trying to use Jack?

Locutus of Borg lives within Jack, separate from Picard, I think they are going to have to go into Jacks mind to figure this out and will require the help of Moriarty, who is living in a hologram construct

WHATEVER Jack will ultimately prove to be in this series, I think we need to compile all the known clues (e.g., his intermittent red eyes, his ability to see and act through someone else, the red door and the vines, the 'find me' voice, Vadic's hand that separates to become the glob-hand master villain communicator, Picard's stolen body, Irumodic Syndrome and Jack inheriting it, bits of dialogue that don't make entire sense in passing and which could be hints,, etc.) List EVERYTHING that's an obvious clue or at least odd and see what sort of picture that draws and what sense that makes in the STAR TREK universe that we already know. We've BEEN SHOWN some putative clues and figuring out how they interrelate is THE PLACE TO START in unraveling this mystery.

What if Jack is part Borg on a genetic level? Picard did say that he has MOST of his humanity back...not all of it. That could mean a whole slew of other things.

I would tend to agree with the Borg hybrid theory on Jack. Although, it makes the series certainly very interesting. I do disagree that all of Locutus got put into Jack. It is more like partly and it could be nano bots. Which would be the first time a Borg up to my knowledge went on to have a child. So it presents many real questions as a result. Him hearing a voice can be the Borg queen. I would like to point out if he is part Borg in some way. He appears to have a rather natural connection and might make the Queen a second mother?

@@littleshopofrandom685 Yeah, I was getting strong vibes from episode five that Lore might be plugged into the Daystrom AI security system. The way they are emphasizing that it is a very advance AI seems like a perfect loop to hook Lore into, in an insidious way. Moriarty will be interesting to see what occurs there because it doesn't seem like an easy fit into this plot, but at least they dropped a moment with a mobile emitter - showing that it clearly has been reversed engineered from the Doctor's time on Voyager.

Hmm. Borg? Q’ish? Q did repair Picard’s heart and who knows what all? Changeling? What about his brother Wesley? Jack’s origins are definitely going to make a great reveal. The DS9 bit is a far stretch but anything can be invented in this story line. The writers are having a blast and convincing former players to come make guest appearances is spot on. Loving this creativity.

Descendant of Captain Jack Sparrow, that's my vote. Captain Jack Sparrow got mixed up with all kinds of weird godlike beings, so who knows. Maybe some of their weird mojo rubbed off on him, and he passed it along to his descendants.

Who knows except those involved with the show. Wait and see in 2 more episodes.

I think all of the changelings so far are merged with humans. it's why they aren't the golden goo anymore. their physiologies are blended which also explains their "meaty" liquid form. for some reason jack has been able to resist his taking control.

The character is supposed to be early twenties, and they are supposed to have hooked up after the movies. The actor is early 30s and looks older but Jack Crusher is about 23.

From the few chats they've had this season, I would say the answer is yes, they had several attempts at getting together, but they never worked out.

Is it possible Bev is a changling? The music that came on when she asked him "how do you know they were changlings?" sounded sinister. She also told a story Jack said he had no memory of.

Because one of the best ways to hide is in plain sight.

This was the first episode in 3 seasons of Picard that I thought was halfway decent. In fact outside a few episodes of Strange New Worlds it's the only decent Trek in a long time. Not perfect (I'm not a fan of dream sequences) but pretty good. I hope things get even better in the second half of the season.

This is the best Star Trek of the last 20+ years hands down, I’m glad it’s finally gripping again and not a comedy show like discovery which took the vibe of Star Trek away.
