    We've never done business but we did fly first class with our kids 7 years ago, then aged 16 and 20, so not really kids. I don't know what the difference is between business and first class but the kids loved it. Hubby and I loved the extra legroom. Mr16 loved our flight attendant continually bringing him snacks and drinks (in a real glass, not plastic). Mr16 was then the height I am now (just slightly taller than you) so you can imagine how many snacks he demolished from San Francisco to Salt lake City and then on to Helena, Montana. We always travelled with babies. Back then it was only within Australia but we took interstate road trips, house boating and camping (tents). It just requires plenty of planning.

    @@PocketTrailblazer First class was on hubby's wish list. We only did it for domestic travel in America. $334 per person for San Francisco to Helena via SLC. The cost for the 4 of us, from Adelaide to LA was far too much for our budget, but shorter legs are more budget friendly. When we travel I ask everyone for their wishlist and then create an itinerary around that. NZ in November/December with the son is 5 days, Amy Shark concert and then Bangladesh v NZ women's cricket match.

    What we've learned with a now 1.5 year old and 4 year old over the years traveling back and forth from Europe to the States and etc is that most people around you are parents with or without kids, or don't mind the noise that your kids make because that is what young children do over a period of time. The people who give you the "stink eye" should either put on some noise canceling headphones or charter a private jet if they want pure quiet. Cheers!

    If they are under the threshold of having to pay for a seat then I wouldn’t bother, plus it’s just easier if they are in the same little area as otherwise you will have to keep getting up - I would definitely try to get the bassinet seats as they are WAY bigger! If you don’t have those bulkheads then maybe they might need a seat, it depends on money really 🤩

    Hi there thanks for a great video! We are planning to travel London to Melbourne later this year with our 18 month old daughter. We are trying to decide whether it’s better to get her her own seat in economy/premium economy or we take her with us on business class as a lap baby. She is not a very stationary child.. so wondering if we forego our comfort for her to have her own seat to jump around in. Any thoughts or advice? We would be flying Swiss and Singapore airlines on the way there and returning on Qantas and Swiss on the way back! Any input welcome!

  • @PocketTrailblazer

    @PocketTrailblazer

    Жыл бұрын

    Thanks so much Karina, I really appreciate it. Honestly, if you can afford Business class then totally worth it - I would recommend booking the bassinet seats at the front as you get even more space depending on the airline and which plane. We did the A380 with Singapore and it was EPIC!!! Once they are 2 you will have to pay for a full seat. 18 months is a tricky time as they just want to be up running around so again, if you can afford it then I would recommend getting a seat in economy for her - otherwise you are literally wrangling a baby the whole time, you have to take turns eating etc - it just gives you a bit more space which is much needed on a long haul flight! Anyway, if you have anymore questions then ping them over on my Instagram @pocket_trailblazer as it's quicker to respond on there Thanks for watching, Charlie

    Yes they are, we were in the bassinet seats hence why there was more room but we didn’t set it up because every time the seatbelt sign comes on you have to take the baby out and attach them to you with the infant seatbelt so for us it was less disruptive to just let her sleep on us!

    I flew business class years back. Transatlantic flight. Had to give a presentation in Paris. On the way it was perfect: I could sleep so that I was fresh for my presentation next morning. On the way back...a kid in business class. And I can say: An annoying kid. Noisy...everything you don't want a kid to be. Ruined my trip. When you buy a business class ticket, you don't buy just a bigger seat and different food. H3ll, I don't even care for the food. I care for the ambiance. And that I can sleep. Had this happened on my way TO Paris, it would have ruined everything. I still complained to the airline about my ordeal and I demanded a refund based on economy class. They met me "halfway" in the form of airmiles which got added to the miles I already have. A good sum, but the point is, that airlines ought to have a "class" free of kids. Most people in that class are business people who on a long journey want to sleep. It's not vacation, it's business. And then you can't have kids around. They can go with the family to the other 90% of the plane. Is that asked too much?

  • @PocketTrailblazer

    @PocketTrailblazer

    Жыл бұрын

    That is a fair point, sorry you had that experience with a troublesome kid but at least you got some air miles which the airline obviously did as a deed of good will. Our baby girl was very well behaved and I made a point of not disturbing other passenger, you couldn't even hear her over the ambience of the plane and more than other adults talking. I don't agree that business class if ONLY for business - on our flight the people around us were travelling for leisure. Anyway, thanks for watching ;-)
