    Any basic Marine engagement with the enemy needs only four things: Infantry, Combat Engineers, Corpsman, and a Chaplain.

    To give you an idea of what combat engineers usually do nowadays when deployed, it’s a lot of FOB improving. This means filling hesco barriers, building and improving posts, em placing obstacles and a lot of building. If you’re lucky and the mission changes, you will be out sweeping for IEDs and if you’re really lucky you’ll be breaching with explosives but the world is very different than it was 10 or so years ago. This all being said, this is if you’re lucky enough to get stationed at a CEB and you’re platoon gets attached to an infantry battalion. By all means I am not discouraging anyone because this was the best job I will ever have in my life but don’t get your hopes up too high. This way when you get to your unit and you’re not doing what you thought you would be, you won’t become a total shitbag and discredit the rest of the combat engineer community. Remember, this sgt is a recruiter so there goal is to get you to enlist. I can’t stress how much I am not trying to discredit everything he is saying however, your situation will vary drastically from the next Marine. If you guys have questions, feel free to hit me up and I’ll do what I can to help you out.

  • @wallkillricky

    @wallkillricky

    @@gustavogutierrez3281 Combat Engineers can see combat but gotta remember that most of the Marine Corps infantry won’t even see combat in our current world. When we were in Syria, some of our engineered received small arms fire while on a convoy which lasted all but 20 seconds. That was about the extent of their combat. Best bet to see combat as a combat engineer would be to go to either 1st or 2nd Combat Engineer Battalion and pray your platoon gets attached to an infantry battalion that is deploying to CENTCOM.

    Jose Bermudez right now it’s peace time so more than likely you aren’t getting into no combat. also they normally aren’t out doing full on grunt shit they will mostly prepare and maintain fobs

    Why is he talking in the perspective like he chose combat engineer thought it’s the needs of the marine corps he could’ve gotten any job in his MOS field like bulk special which no one wants.

    At the time I believed that I actually chose it. Looking back I realized that I could have easily been bulk fuel. I have actual experience in combat engineering so that’s why I’m talking in that perspective.
