Cordless Freedom with Brushless Power:

Precision Sanding for Optimal Results:
- Variable Speed Control: Tailor the sanding speed to the task at hand. Choose a higher speed for aggressive material removal or a lower speed for finer finishing touches. This level of control allows you to achieve the desired results for various sanding applications.
- 5" x 18" Sanding Belt: The sander utilizes a common 5" x 18" sanding belt size, providing ample sanding surface area and ensuring compatibility with a wide variety of grits for different materials and project stages.
- Tool-Free Belt Changes: Quickly and easily swap out sanding belts without fumbling for tools. This feature saves time and streamlines your workflow, allowing you to focus on getting the job done.
Ergonomic Design for User Comfort:
- Lightweight Construction: The CMCW223B boasts a lightweight design that minimizes user fatigue during extended sanding sessions. This is especially beneficial for larger projects or those requiring detailed sanding in awkward positions.
- Comfortable Grip: The sander features a comfortable and ergonomic grip that provides a secure hold and optimal control while sanding. This reduces hand strain and allows for more precise maneuvering.
- Dust Bag or Vacuum Compatibility: The CMCW223B offers the option to utilize either the included dust bag or connect it directly to a shop vacuum. This helps maintain a cleaner work environment and minimizes dust inhalation.
Is the CRAFTSMAN V20 Brushless RP Belt Sander CMCW223B Right for You?
This cordless belt sander is an excellent choice for DIYers and woodworking enthusiasts who require a versatile and user-friendly tool for various sanding tasks. Here's why:
- Ideal for Various Projects: From furniture restoration to deck sanding or prepping wood for painting, the CMCW223B tackles a wide range of sanding applications.

- User-Friendly Features: Variable speed control, tool-free belt changes, and a comfortable grip make sanding tasks easier and more efficient.
Here are some additional factors to consider:
- Battery System: The CMCW223B is part of the CRAFTSMAN V20 battery platform. If you already own V20 batteries and tools, this sander integrates seamlessly into your existing system.

I still do not know exactly why, but this Craftsman Belt Sander really threw me off. It is so different than many other belt sanders that I have used. The adjustable handle and all the plastic made me really dive in and try to figure out what was up. At the end of the day, it worked great. Still, I look at the tool and just wonder why this tool makes me go hhmmmmmm.

Agreed, but if you compare this unit to the Dewalt or Metabo HPT, it looks like a plastic toy. It does not perform like one!

I enjoy looking at the Craftsman line and trying to see what they took from the other brands and made their own. I have never been so thrown off by any tool as much as this one.

The 5ah batteries come with the v20 lawnmower mine did as well. Great review this made up my mind to add it to the woodshop with my RP Jigsaw, Router and 18ga brad nailer. Looking to get their new 3in cutoff tool as well

The craftsman dust ports are actually dewalt airlock, the adapter that comes with the single battery 60v dewalt chop saw fits

  • @WorkshopAddict

    @WorkshopAddict

That would be very simple to put in the instructions. Oddly enough, my flexvolt dust extractor with that adapter did not fit, but it might have been a bit of my frustration at that point.

@@WorkshopAddict Great video, thanks for the review. Just a note, the instruction manual on page 11 says "The dust exhaust port allows you to connect the tool to an external dust extractor, either using the AirLockTM system, or a standard 32 mm dust extractor fitment." No other explanation or instructions about it, which would have been nice. That said, manual for Craftsman's new Powerfile (CMCW211) includes a more detailed explanation of how to use the AirLock system, and even calls it "Craftsman's AirLock connection system". Maybe there will soon be a Craftsman version of AirLock??? 🤔

LOL. Yes it performs much better. I buy my belts from Home Depot since it is close. I buy Dewalt or Diablo because that is what they carry. Diablo has done well for me. Are they the best? I can't answer that.

Seems to me craftsmen isnt selling as good as Stanley thinks because this is by far the cheapest looking rp tool yet and for most part I love craftsmen but for that money the metabo hpt is way better deal also the electric version looks way more beeefy and metal what's up with all the plastic Stanley black and decker we want good tools that will last for a good deal not a good deal because it's made so cheap no way this hold up make it hard to defend craftsmen on this belt sander what happened to last gen DeWalt that they have been doing last gen DeWalt is new gen craftsmen
