This is far and away my favorite Intamin coaster. It's got insane lateral Gs, insane positive Gs, and insane negative Gs. It's like it's actively trying to kill you.

The history of "dialing in" the Intimidator 305 is interesting, and well described toward the end of this video (3:17). Folks who've ridden this coaster are likely familiar with the experience of "grey-out" or "stars" at the first air-time hump, just after the initial drop. However, this coaster's first season riders endured blackout-inducing forces after the drop AND grey-out for the remainder of the ride. The Intimidator 305 was just too fast! Crazy fast! Rider complaints of unpleasant sensations due to the high momentum over the course of the track raised concern about ride safety. It took ride engineers several attempts (colloquially called "revisions") to tweak the coaster's speed at critical points in the ride. Engineers added trim brakes, along with a subtle change to track at the first bank turn, to lower the speed and lessen the cause of blackouts this point in the ride. Additional trim brakes were added to lessen the cause of shoulder/neck injury and potential grey-outs further along the track. Despite the changes during Intimidator 305's first season, the train still runs plenty fast today--sometimes too fast for the algorithm of the ride computer: the trim brakes can be felt on occasion! Riders still remark about experiencing "grey-out" or "stars" after recovering from that 94 meter drop. While the current ride experience is intentionally less rigorous than its original incarnation, the Intimidator 305 is no less intense! It is a very well-designed roller coaster and worth a visit to Kings Dominion to experience it.

Maybe not the world's best coaster but it's definitely up there. KD is my home park and I rode this back in 2010 when it debuted. A friend and myself got off the ride looked at each other and I was asked did I black out? I yelled. Yes I did! What was that about?! It happened a few times after that too. Thankfully they did what they needed to do to reduce blackouts but after a while, I stopped riding it in fear I would black out again. Literally began riding it again in 2018 and no blackouts have taken place.

One thing that millennium force will always have on this ride is the lap restraints. Going down that MASSIVE drop with only lap bars is some scary shit

Just visited KD for the first time this week. I can honestly say that I was legitimately afraid while heading up the lift hill of Intimidator 305. I haven't felt that fear since I was a kid. :-) I ended up going on this ride 3x and count it as in my top 3 of roller coasters I've ridden and I'm over 100. It's definitely the most intense. What a fantastic ride and greta vid. Thank you for posting it.

THIS COASTER IS PERFECT MY CURRENT #1,i love the intensity! Its basically an up scale karnan.

I would've rode Intimidor 305 when I went to Kings Dominion in the Summer of 2015, but the heat and humidity got the best of me. Also, the clip at 0:58 showed part of a great battle between Terry LaBonte and Dale Earnhardt for the win at Bristol in 2000.

I was at kings dominion last summer and this ( and dominator ) were the only coasters I didn't ride ( intimidator was closed the whole time for the two days I was there except it opened about halfway through my second day and had a two hour wait within the first half hour ) so yeah. But this is still my favorite amusement park as it made me a coaster enthusiast after riding volcano. Plan to go back soon and going to cedar point this summer, steel vengeance here I come.

I rode this before they modified it and I specifically remember blacking out. In fact, I have the picture of me blacking out because the camera used to be at the bottom of the first drop. It's super intense either way and I feel so lucky to have such a gr8 ride at my home park

This is my new home park’s best coaster. It’s my favorite Intiman coaster and my fourth favorite coaster overall. Can’t wait to get a ton of rides on it this summer.

Intimidator 305 looks so cool I really wanna on it it’s looks so clean and I bet the airtime is amazing I have been in fury 325 and the regular intimidator because I’m from Carowinds but I think intimidator 305 is better

Not quite sure how true this is (if anyone can confirm that would be great), but apparently the "Gentlemen start your engines" was recorded by Dale Earnhardt Jr. As for the coaster itself, I love it. The forces are incredible and those S-Curves are in another level of intense. It is definitely one of the best coasters out there.

I've rode many coasters all over the country including world famous millennium force....intimidator 305 destroys them all. By far the most intense coaster in the states. Theres a bank switch on the Crest of a hill which never gets old. Its violent and aggressive it at the same time smooth and flawless...the first right bank and the bank switch towards end of ride are the best aspects of it imo. Plus the lift system is wicked fast, you're not being towed and dropped over the first hill, no i305 literally throws you over the hill

Haven't ridden fury 325, but I gotta say I felt like Millennium Force was more of a thrill than intimidator 305. I believe the intimidator 305 was built better, and could be a better ride, but the lack of shoulder straps on millennium force leave you feeling open and vulnerable during the ride. It felt more extreme to me, even though I blacked out on intimidator 305. Both are incredible rides. Take away the shoulder straps on intimidator 305 and then I'd agree with you...they simply can't though because of the whips back and forth.

CycloneChilli its a good ride but there are much beater roller costers in USA then this Steal Vengence Furry 325 Millennium force Voyidge orion i have been on all the gggir costers and rmc and this is the worst it does not have much air time i am not saying do not ride it recommend it but it does not give much air time i do like it but is my least favourite giger coaster yet the same park has one of my Favourate RMCs Twisted Timbers a Much beater ride with lots of Floter and Ejector Airtime one of my favourite RMC's yet not as god as Steil Vengence or Twisted collousers or Outlaw run but beter then storm chaser Goliath or Under pant girl or Lightining rod

ive been on it tip : your head will want to hit the buckle dont let that happen you get cuts.

As I understand it, New Jersey state law requires over-the-shoulder restraints on rides above a certain height. That height must be somewhere above 220 feet, as Nitro, in the same park, only has lap bars (massive, chunky B&M lap bars, which are still quite comfortable). In my opinion, because Kingda Ka has very little lateral movement, there's not much chance of headbanging, except perhaps during the launch. Kingda Ka doesn't really have any airtime to speak of, so the type of restraint seemed somewhat irrelevant to me.

That would be correct, I have heard that rides above 300 feet tall must have over the shoulder restraints in New Jersey. However, the restraints on Kingda Ka are still quite uncomfortable and I wish they would use the restraints that can be found on i305.

My 3rd favorite coaster at the moment (only Fury 325 and Maverick top it!)

I don't know if this is the best Intamin coasters (looks like one of the best), but it certainly looks to be the most intense. After having ridden Taron again today, I was just blown away by how intense some of the fast transitions and changes of direction on that thing are. But looking at some of the transitions on i305, they seem almost twice as fast. It's honestly a little scary. (Please mind that this comes from someone who hasn't yet ridden it.)

Just don't get a cramp halfway through it like I did. Lots of pain. I live an hour away from kings dominion, but if you ever get the chance to go, ride the intimidator first. Otherwise, you might think about it too much and back out of riding it.

I’m from Va and have been on this many times. Every time I go, I’m scared as fuck to go on this. It’s really fun though once you begin to hit that first drop. It’s just the anticipation that kills you lol.

there are much beater roller coasters in America then this but this is very good but Ceder point and Kings island and cowinds are beater but this is a good ride and very intence i had rining ers when i came of and had a whisky it gives very good g force and negitive g its the only roller coaster i had grey vision on

the coaster looks amazing but personally I am not so keen on the theming. If you're going to let your imagination run wild with the layout its a bit of a shame that isn't extended to the area where the ride is located as a replica race car and some flags is a little disappointing in my opinion. Anyway another excellent production Mr Bot and all the best with your exams - you'll smash it!

When I went to carwinds i saw the intimidator it looked so scary i even screamed but not that loud and I could here the people screaming for their life it was fun though and I went to like 5 roller coasters and I almost passed out on all of them because they were fast but it was fun😂😂😂

I doubt it. I don't find Rita to be rough or uncomfortable anyway. :)

GiR i think it was 4.7 when i went on a couple years ago and i felt very heavy then light and ears rining and a tunnel vision

Oh and I forgot this! When it first opened, every other train would stop right before the crest of the first hill to scare people.

my opinion? its the best roller coaster in the entire world. and ive ridden over 200 coasters.

@@coasterbot you have to ride it at some point in your life my friend. you just HAVE to. assuming you are from U.K.? get a hotel near the northern va area and you can knock out Busch gardens williamsburg, kings dominion, AND hershey park as all are within a few hours drive. make the trip worth it 👌
