I wish I had terracotta tiles. Concrete tiles is the worst. Where do I get spares ? Reroof was going to be $20k alone. Roof recapping repair cost $2800. Paint job and seal required before panels is $1500-$5000 ? My switchboard job to get induction cost me $1500 big job. A higher amp lead in requires level 2 tech. So much money needed before solar.

I dont think anyone considers the paint job and seal and roof repair before panels. But its needed sadly. And what about the condition of the beams and joists supporting the roof sometimes that needs repair to handle the weight

Definitely safer and cheaper to do roof upgrades prior to installing solar. We have had to remove panels to allow for roof upgrades and then put it back up for customers before. It can be done, but definitely cheaper to make these upgrades prior to getting solar if you can!

Yeah how complicated to remove panels after the fact. The roof is better now but a reroof to colourbond would have been nice. Still needs the paint and seal. There is tiles with chipped corners which the repairer thought was ok. They replaced quite a few tiles already. so there is still the chance of chipped tiles. Where do we get spare concrete tiles is the question. Its sad they arent terracotta. because its concrete tiles I have to pay extra for reflective paint.

I wouldnt keep these systems remotely configurable. And it should be ethernet connected with a VLAN configuration. Not many people in solar are IT or understand security so asking for trouble if this is both remotely accessible and wifi connected. I would prefer local data polling. No need for "cloud"

If I have any money left after the unsubsidised energy efficiency upgrades. As solar panels does absolutely nothing for energy efficiency so the last thing people should even be looking into. Solaray seem like nice guys who know what they are doing so will go with them. And it would be Enphase AC microinverters with N type panels. The microinverter + N type setup may be more than string inverter but less dangerous and more efficient. And the monitoring will be fully ethernet connected and on a VLAN to LOCAL data collection no "cloud". Polling a "cloud" is a security problem and asking for trouble. ALL inverters with wireless connections have poor firmware updates and they are not IT and security companies. So the wifi is always prone to exploits allowing backdoors into the local network. Very dumb. They put the isolator switch under the eave ! First example I've seen. DC Isolator switches on the roof dictacted by fire service who are not electricians. Is asking for water ingress and fire. Solar is almost dead with LG leaving the market and extremely inefficient. So anything else adding efficiency to what is already dealt with inside like UPVC and north facing light and heat gain is a win win. Until the bozos finally give us free energy technology they are keeping from us from Birkeland currents surrounding the planet. Even if it's free and free of utility slavery compared to any other tech people are fighting over like cave people. Doesn't give people a license to consume more either. The point is to do the work to be as efficient and low footprint as possible for this end goal.
