Some LN Extra Details (Volume 12 Chapter 10-13(partial only) ) - Rudy admitted in his mind that he loved Paul, although more of a partner in crime than a father - Elinalise and Lilia sometimes came into his room and said something to him, but he did not comprehend them and did not replied to them. - Rudy is blaming himself for Paul's death. He thought things would be different if he can use battle aura (touki), or forcefully drag Paul back to the city after the first encounter and planned more carefully. - Roxy heard that men especially mercenaries liked to pay for women's service before and after battle. -While Elinalize, Talhand, Gizu, and Roxy were at the tavern talking about Paul's death and how to cheer up Rudeus. Gisu suggested that Elinalize do the thing she does at times like this to which she declined, with her reason being that Rudeus' wife is her grandhcild that's about to have a baby, and that she didn't want to betray Cliff. This was also how Roxy found out that Rudeus was already married which made her think about all the things she did in the labyrinth thinking that Rudeus was free and breaks her heart. - Elinalise is trying to persuade Roxy to sleep with Rudy to heal his heart. - Everyone is surprised that Elinalise refused to sleep with Rudy knowing her. - Usually Elinalise is good on healing men's heart. But her desire to not betray Cliff is in the way this time. - Roxy is saying that she share even just a bit of his pain because of how Paul's family is like a second family to her and how one of the members in her old party died shielding her. She treated him like an older brother. (You can see him, Dale alongside Nokopara (the horseman in S1) and Blaze (the pigman that died by the Redhood Cobra in S1E11) in Roxy's old party in early chapters of Roxy manga) - When they woke up Rudy told Roxy about his past self as a weird fiction story and asked on her opinion on what should he do to amend that. - Even though Rudy was irritated on how Geese would talk about cash at the moment, he has a point that money is essential and they would want to sell things that they got as a reward to everyone for their help. - They get an armadillo beast for their return trip as a carriage beast. - When Roxy confessed to Rudy, she only asks that she became his left hand during the return trip - Rudy bought some rice seed on Bazaar during their stay there for around a month to plant it on his house. - They blindfolded everyone when they were near the labyrinth since so long as they don't see the barrier, they won't know what happened since the barrier hides the labyrinth. - They passed through Gryphon's ledge and encountered succubus again. Rudeus accidently slipped his true feeling and at one point, causing him to try after Roxy during that effect. The women dealt with them and managed to use detoxification on Gisu and Rudeus. Frighteningly, Talhand was completely immune to the pheromones with Elinalize saying it was natural since he was all muscle and no brain. - They blindfolded everyone when they were near the labyrinth since so long as they don't see the barrier, they won't know what happened since the barrier hides the labyrinth. - They left the carriage since it wouldn't fit in the ruins but brought the armadillo since it would. They also felt bad just leaving it in the middle of the desert as monster bait. And while the armadillo was indeed shivering in the cold once they reached the other side, they just warmed it up with fire magic (they didn't cook it). - Rudy was quite confused, Elinalise as Sylphie's grandmother, proposed having Roxy as his wife, but she said before she was Sylphie's grandmother, she was Roxy's close friend. - Elinalise further coerced Rudy by saying during their trip at Bazaar, Roxy's monthly visitor had not come, implying that Roxy might be pregnant, but that is not yet certain. - Rudy said to Elinalise that he will marry her if that is the case to be responsible for it. Differences from LN - Rudeus is the one that aggresively jumps on Roxy instead after several seduction attempts done by her and losing his control - Skipped city of Bazaar moments during their 1 month stay there Self Note - Why is the armadillo is being neglected? It deserves the right for more screentime. - Even though some changes are quite subtle, that it may change how the character is portrayed, especially on the Elinalise ones. I felt a bit conflicted on some of that changes.

The moment he obtains Eris is the moment he becomes Zoro, wielder of three swords.

The book had the tryst differently. It's similar how she came to his room and tried to comfort him up to the point she was hugging his head, but as *she* was pulling away, Rudeus pulled her to his lap whereupon she said they could do it and explained how Elinalise had told her that sleeping with a woman would improve a man's mood. She started babbling how it's the same for women and it'd help ease her pain about Paul's loss before devolving to talking about him likely wanting someone with a fuller figure instead. Rudeus on the other hand had noticed how her scent and the sound of her beating heart soothed him, and he'd started thinking how much calmer would he feel pressed against her. He was rather violent when he took her, venting his frustration. The morning after had him thinking clearer, but he concluded that not only he'd simply just pushed his problems aside, he'd added to them. He got to asking her his weird question, telling her a _completely fictional story that is utterly unrelated to anyone_ about a man who'd messed up his family relationships and had been kicked out for not taking part in his parents' funeral, how he'd come to a new land and built a new life and family for himself, but he'd made a mistake that cost him dearly and only now he remembered his parents; he asked her what that man should do. Since he can't go and visit their graves, she told him the man should focus on the family in front of him since that's the only thing he can do. The line "Please look to the future. Everyone is waiting for you." is the most moving in the whole novel series because of that. Rudeus came from less than nothing, having lost everything in his past, and now he has so much more than he could ever think of ahead of him. He has people who love him and treasure him, and he needs to move forward for them. The sex was just a dopamine hit to reset his mental state. The talk got him to finally let out what he'd been holding in to someone for once, and the reassurances she gave him might've been platitudes, but they helped duct tape him back together. On the way back what she considered so terrible was that everyone knew she had fallen for Rudeus, but nobody would tell her about him being married until mere hours before she took matters into her own hands. She'd been strung along for some three weeks from the moment of being rescued by him and nobody informed her until Elinalise had to explain precisely why she can't go and fix his heartbreak, which she's adept at. All that time she'd thought he was available and he was absolutely receptive to everything she threw his way. Even with all that, realizing he loves her and she loves him, he couldn't bring himself to just consider taking Roxy as his second wife, as it'd be self-serving his own greed and how it'd dilute his relationship with Sylphie. It got to the point Elinalise had to strongly imply Roxy was pregnant. The journey back had taken some two months, after all. Rudeus then vowed he'd take Roxy as his second wife if at all possible as a form of taking responsibility. So that's a bit of anxiety that's been axed in the anime adaptation...

I must say one thing that many seem to have forgotten. Eris, who is currently training to become the strongest, still thinks Rudeus is hers while Rudy thought she dumped him. I mean, we did see that in the season finale last season. She expects to become the strongest to be able to be by Rudy's side and protect him in the future. Therefore, we all must know when the two ever meet again, Eris likely thinks they'll probably just get back together. But when she returns.... there's Sylphy and possibly Roxy depending on how the next episode turns out. Omg. I wonder what Eris will do.

@@jeqse4166 which is such a drop in character on rudys part. We've seen how he is when he is depressed, he wouldnt be assertive like that at all. The author prob noticed that and changed it in the anime so it makes more sense.

Before that his inner monologue isn't about sex i think roxy hand because of comfort when she was about to let go. Then roxy offers herself here its roxy initiating it but comes down to the same thing rudeus grabs roxy's hand

It's cuz they cut a lot of shit out, so they tried to put it out in a way that gave you the same impression. In the LN, the people most at fault are prob gease and Lise. But they also were motivated by the desire to get zenith home(rudy was locked in for a week or two). They were pushing the idea for someone to sleep with rudy, and then lise told rudy that roxy was pregnant because of him feeling so bad at initiating it, he was distancing himself from her(so he would marry her). But there is a lot more to it. Imo they didn't do the best job, but i understand why they had to and i don't think it was a bad adaption at all. I honestly just wish they still added the part where rudy told roxy about all 4 of his parents and past life but in the whole "this was someone i knew". Imo it added a lot to their dynamic, her being the first person he told.

This episode just skipped too much from LN to actually make it make more sense. In here Roxy just looks like an asshole predator and Rudeus like he didn't care enough. They prob did the best they could, but still could definitely have been done better. "Without the context of "Roxy has already tried to claw Rudeus out of depression every day for over a month," the scene makes zero sense. Without the scene of Elinelise giving her the idea of sex as a last resort to jumpstart any kind of emotional response from Rudeus, the scene makes even less sense. By not showing Roxy understands his current family situation, the context of sacrificing herself and her virginity just as a desperate prayer to help him is criminal. From her perspective, she had no hope of reciprocation and was willing to put how this might hurt her aside; without showing this she comes off as painfully tactless and boneheadedly selfish. She put her needs aside to save the person who saved her. Instead? It looks like she's taking advantage of someone vulnerable to help herself." - Taken from another comment
