You have just changed my life. And this was recorded eight years ago?? Wow I am slow. Thank you!
I just watched your tutorial about glue basting seams. I decided to try it. LIFE CHANGING!!!!!!! I have never made a more perfect pie and crust.
I've seen this method on Sharon Schamber and Cristy Fincher like you mentioned and think it's perfect for nesting seams also. No matter how well I pin the seams want to move with pins but they don't move with the glue. BEST THING EVER!!
I have just started quilting after some time sewing stuffed animals...OMG...You have changed my life in more stuffed animal making and future quilting projects!
I have been trying to find a solution to my circular quilt blocks & FINALLY found it! Thanks!!!
Heather is my fav Quilty guest.... She's so personable, and fun.... I really do enjoy her. Great video...

+Sandy Grogg I love Ebony Love too. She is very, very fun and sweet.
Iron on a small square of freezer paper on your ironing board/surface to apply the glue and ironing the glued piece.
I glue down my bindings as well. Sew the first edge, turn, glue down then top stitch.
Fantastic! Curved piecing, here we come!!!
Since I machine stitch my binding - i stitch to the front like normal then glue baste the binding to the back before I sew it down from the front - totally don't need to pin it down anymore :)
AWESOME! Thanks for showing us how to do this.
Great to see you all have jumped on the band wagon!! I learned this sneaky little secret two years ago and it changed my life 😂 try it you won't be disappointed!!!!

If u use the aleenes tacky glue.. the hold is instant and forever.. atleast till u wash it
You just changed my life!
Ha...I'm a guy who wants to patch the knees of his jeans. Gonna try this...(need all the help I can get to hold the patch/jeans in place while I fumble around with that needle and thread stuff...!)
What do you do if you glue and realize you put the wrong pieces together? How do you get them apart? Wet the spot?
I love this. It looks so easy. I'm going to experiment with omitting the iron and see what happens if the glue dries after the pieces are just finger pressed together. Will it work?
I place a piece of parchment paper over and under the area I am gluing so nothing ends up on the iron or the ironing surface.
Thank you, thank you!
Than you! ❤
Love you Mary too funny your so real! Love your teaching methods lol
Used glue for applique! Awesome!
Me podría decir como se llama el quilt que está colgado a la espalda de las presentadoras??
I found the answer on KZread to my question about omitting the iron. The designer used a small glue stick to fasten the center together first, then one half of the curve. The concave (crust) fabric was on top. After the second half was glued, she quickly stitched the Drunkard's Path block on the sewing machine. So, my next question is can the liquid school glue be used this way? It can be applied in a more precise amount and it's cheaper. Maybe the glue stick is tackier and stays in place instantly.

Next thought: It won't matter how fast the glue dries if we're making a quilt with lots of curved blocks. By the time we get all the blocks glued, the first ones will be ready to sew.
miss you, where you been Mary fons
I presume you could use any water soluble PVA glue for those of us not in the US.
Does it gum up your sewing machine needle

Joanna. Maw schultz It hasn't gumed up my needles. Hower i apply it as close to the seam line as i can because i open seam and press too
I apply with needle tip bottle from Amazon.
I'm a new quilter am can't get enough of Fons an porter, an you're videos. I had purchased some Elmer's craft bond. Will this work? My eyes are bad an us hard to read the tiny letting in the tubes. To me it would be easier to hold an apply. I have carpel tunnel syndrome so my hands aren't the greatest. any suggestions would be awesome

You must use washable glue. The bottle will say washable on the front. It's often called washable school glue no matter what brand. A good quilt shop, online or local to you, will have this type of glue in bottles with fine tips so it's good to ask them.

I’ll be glue basting a t shirt quilt. Also glue basting pieces that I have to sew a seam on the bias
I'll use Elmer's glue stick on my points for perfect points! But it's going to be a game changer for drunkard's path!!
Mary, you are just so awesome. You're just cute!
I wonder what the equivalent in UK it's about £9 plus £8 shipping, it's totally not worth it.
Would you both be my new best friends?
Omg .....that's all I have to say
Hi Ladies--Elmer's School Glue is pure thick starch. I don't know the number of calories - - but yes, Mary you can eat it! I would add some flavoring☺

Wrong. "Elmer's glue in the US, or PVA glue) is an aliphatic rubbery synthetic polymer with the formula (C4H6O2)n." I don't think anyone should eat a rubbery synthetic polymer.
