What is Epilepsy and How is it Treated?

In this video, we review the different types of epilepsy and the available treatments for pediatric patients, including epilepsy surgery. Our team of experts at Children’s Hospital Colorado will work with you to determine the best epilepsy treatment for your unique child. Watch to learn more about the signs, diagnosis and treatment options for pediatric epilepsy.
Epilepsy is the name of the chronic medical condition in which a child has repeated seizures, also known as a seizure disorder. There are many types of epilepsy, ranging from benign to intense. Seizures may range from intense full body shaking to mild staring and lip smacking. Children’s Colorado provides different types of treatment for epilepsy in children including traditional anticonvulsant medications, dietary therapies, access to ongoing drug studies, vagal nerve stimulation and epilepsy surgery.
In this video, we describe epilepsy and the available treatment options for pediatric patients. We also review the different types of epilepsy surgery that we offer and the tests that are needed to determine if surgery is an option for a child with epilepsy.

    What I have learned As a Epilepsy Patient • It’s hard to bear, but we cannot lose hope to get healthy one day. • We can reduce ratio of attacks, if we follow doctor’s advices in our daily routine. • We have to spread awareness about epilepsy, and show the world that nothing is impossible in life. • There are many people who are suffering from epilepsy, but they are living their lives very happily. • It’s a continuous struggle to keep Yourself focus on your goals rather then worry about your disease.

    Epilepsy is a disorder in which the nerve cell activity in the brain is disturbed. In other terms, it is known as seizure. It is a neurological disorder that causes a period of unusual behavior. During seizure, a person experiences abnormal behavior sometimes including loss of consciousness. Both females and males are equally affected by this disorder.

    High humidity and low atmospheric pressure is the reason why people get seizures! I found out because my previous seizure was during when the hurricane and I googled it and found out. That's why places with high humidity such as The UK and Pakistan have the highest percentage of Epileptics.

    epilepsy doesn't only happen for children, why are you only addressing this that way? my girlfriend is 24 and just got diagnosed a few weeks ago

  • @moonbased7796

    @moonbased7796

    2 жыл бұрын

    They know that? Keep in mind this is a doctors place that mostly treats children and I think they are addressing it this way because the most common form of epilepsy is the one that involves “absence seizures” or also known as “petit mal seizures” which is most common in children than adults and most kids out grown it but some cases they do carry on as adults cause I am one of those cases. (I’m 20 years old as of me making this reply so 4 years younger than your girlfriend) and since they treat mostly children, I think they want to keep it simple as possible so if kids who have epilepsy (or have a relative that does have epilepsy) and wants to learn they can ya know? I can’t confirm that is the case but I am guessing is that since they mostly care for children and most epilepsy cases are referring to the absence seizure one (which is the more mild ones) and usually most kids grow out of it. I think that’s the case.

    Add MCT Oil to your diet everyday for better seizure control. A good CBD oil. Biotin. Magnesium. Watch your diet. Watch sugar and carbs. No aspartame, no MSG, no processed foods, cut the chemicals and food dyes. Eat clean and organic. Drink purified water. Stay away from excitoxins. Those cause seizures. The chicken sandwiches from Popeye’s, Chick-fil-A, and McDonald’s all have it in common (aside from being delicious, of course) They all contain monosodium glutamate (MSG), a type of excitatory neurotoxin (excitotoxin) that has been shown to adversely affect the brain.

    I saw 3 weeks ago a child of our neighbor whose family is poor, the cause of the child's pain was when his mother was carrying him in her womb, her uterus was not complete and her uterus was open and she could touch the child's head with her finger when she was going to the bathroom. When he was born, his head was full of blood, without going to the hospital, he started bleeding. After a week, he was sick and kept at home. He didn't get care. I don't have enough money to help me, what's worse is that there are no neurologists in our country.
