What is Education in Sweden like?

Doctor ET - Ed on EdTech
My goal was to learn what Education in Sweden was really like. Our friend Bengt who helped organize the rebuild of St Anne's Preparatory School in Uganda was here to help. He had connections with two Christian schools in primary and secondary. The first thing that I noticed was the close ties to nature as the schools are named after the trees prevalent in the area.
Bruksskolan or Mill School was a pre-school and primary school built upon the site of an old Mill. When entering the classroom you could immediately see the connection to nature in the kid's artwork and crafts made of small branches, leaves, and pines that you could find nearby. The open layout of the classrooms made it easy for kids to transition between activities.
Next up we visited, Björkskolan or Birch High School, I loved the connection to nature in the name of this school. We were fortunate to be invited to do a presentation of our edtech software during a school board meeting.
Lastly, I visited VUX school, an adult education centre that teaches Swedish and English language skills. I loved how teachers had shared offices where they could plan and solve problems together.
Their passion for nature is what scandinavians call friluftsliv which translates to "open-air living" and it's this notion that the fresh air of the outdoors is good for spiritual and physical wellbeing. I decided to experience a little bit of fri lufts liv that evening with a walk to see the fall colours and the beautiful sunsets of that region. You get so much energy from being around nature.
