May these meritorious virtues, adorn the Buddha's Pure Land. Repay the four weighty sources of kindness above and relieving the sufferings of the three paths below. If there are those who see or hear this, may all give rise to Bodhicitta/Bodhi Mind. At the end of this one retribution body, be born in the land of Ultimate Bliss together. Amituofo. _/|\_ Thank you Lama Lena.

Regardless of what is happening, just ask yourself, at this moment, what is it that is aware of this? Do this repeatedly throughout the day. If any concept appears to you that's not it. That's dzogchen

No, being in survival mode keeps a lot of people stuck in a cycle of being unable to give time and energy to a spiritual practice. I doubt many people are sitting and mediating when there are tanks rolling through the suburbs like what happened in Ukraine. Do you?

@@TheMoonlightMage You have the time to meditate while you're holding security for hours on end. What gets people though is when they actively numb themselves to be able to handle their own environment. That is to let go of your own humanity.

@zaphchialmejia4606 Not everyone who goes hungry does bad things or thinks bad things. That way of thinking is kind of broad and classist tbh. You can mediate and work at the same time, if you can use your brain.

@@TheMoonlightMage I was confused about what you said for a fat minute, but after taking a bit of time to try and figure out what it is you said I realized that your definition of humanity probably has to do with being either good or evil doesn't it? I was using the definition for humanity used in this video which seemed to be about being mindful in the moment and allowing yourself the leeway to not be dominated by circumstances, but rather to face the circumstances head on in a way that isn't wallowing in self pity or hopelessness. Nothing to do with the labeling of either 'good' or 'evil.' Just about being able to undergo normal life, suffering, or bliss w/o tunnel visioning on the circumstances occurring to you.

Very interesting that this ideology classifies people that lack the time and resources to “look beyond” as not fully human. Was this present in pre-China Tibet? Strikes me as an effective ideological mechanism for justifying the abuse and oppression of the working poor by the monastic class. Am I misunderstanding this? Looking beyond entails noticing that life hurts… don’t you think working people know this already? It strikes me that only a wealthy and out of touch person would have to contemplate this basic fact in order to understand it. How are they more human than the person that realizes this truth and lives it daily? Oh, they pay your bills, that’s how, huh? I’ve wanted to believe that all of this isn’t incoherent ideological nonsense propagated by gurus guarding “secrete” knowledge and selling their “wisdom” to the gullible bourgeois, but it seems inconceivable to me at this point that anything else could be the case.
