What Is Drift Scuba Diving? (Palm Beach, Florida)

Drift diving off Palm Beach, Florida is like flying over the top of the reef. It's relaxing and exhilarating at the same time.
On this dive, we explore a dive site known as North Double Ledges and talk about drift diving as the weather on the surface goes from bad to worse.

    There are several videos available on youtube about the drift diving but the way you have narrated a story through a camera's lens is really great. It actually gave me an insight about how does it feel and function in the real world condition because verbal explanation and realtime execution are two different things. Current was literally pushing you forward and you were cruising very gently, may be you are a well experienced diver so it could be a reason you maintained buyoncey also managed a camera and made me enjoy explore the beautiful underwater world. Thanks. ❤👍🏻

    Thank you. Drift diving can be one of the most enjoyable and relaxing types of dives. I understand your apprehension and glad we could help. If I may, we’d recommend finding a dive instructor you like and working on the drift dive specialty at a pace your comfortable with. I think you’ll really enjoy it.

    First time I ever drift dove was Jupiter Florida. Area 51 and Tunnels. It's so peaceful. You can just float across the reef exploring the underwater world. I Love it so much!! Doing a bunch of dives there this summer and hopefully will hit the Blackwater Drift Dive in Palm Beach! Happy Diving!!

    Very cool! Drift diving is tons of fun. We got to dive Tunnels this summer and had a blast, and the Blackwater dive feels like you’re floating through space. Blackwater diving is not a type of diving everyone enjoys, but it’s incredible if you’re up for it. If you haven’t seen our video on Blackwater diving you can check it out below. kzread.info/dash/bejne/dHumuc6Oh9XRado.html Thanks again for watching and commenting!

    Awesome stuff! I love how you’re making these guides/overviews. Besides wrecks, I just called these dives drift diving so it’s cool to have a better idea of what these dives actually were. One time while drift diving in Jupiter (north of palm beach), we missed our mark and drifted over sand the whole time. It would have been a bust, but we ran into a 15ft hammerhead during the drift so it was sweet. Really enjoying what you do here!

    Thank you. Running into a 15ft hammerhead is definitely exciting. We’ve drifted past our desired spot once or twice and had to have the boat grab us and drop us off again. The current there is fast for sure.

    4:25 Turning sideways to the current slows you down? I would have thought that would speed you up and that aligning with the current in a streamlined fashion would allow you to slow down. As you may conclude, I have not done a drift dive yet and looking to learn and do one. Thanks.

    Amazing Videography and great voice over as always! Song right when you are jumping in at the beginning didn't quiet match your calm voice I bit too hardcore. At the end it kind of felt like you were rushing the viewer off. Very abrupt. Maybe another video like at the start to close it ? You guys are quality divers and the dive looked amazing ! Tons of fish and you guys were safe even in that rough weather at the end! Love the videos.

  • @TritonsRealm

    @TritonsRealm

    We really love our OTS Full Face Mask (FFM), but have found that if we’re diving deeper than 60’ (18m) we go through our gas fast particularly when narrating our dive underwater. Our recent dives have all been fairly deep, so we’ve opted not to use the FFM. However, we do have a video coming out in a couple weeks where we dive the Blue Heron Bridge in FL with the FFM again, and it was great. 👍
