Hi IK, thank you for your content is really helpful and you are just awesome explaining! Is there anyway I can contact you? I have an issue with planned orders on SAP. I have demand for an assembly, sales orders and forecast, so I have set up my production plan with production orders that are driving parts every week (start dates on 2Q, 3Q & 4Q) but my finish dates are extended until 2023 based on the Lead time of the components (semiconductor global shortage). Since the finish dates are waay out on 2023 the system is creating planned orders for all my demand on 2021 sales orders and forecast. This is duplicating the requirements on all BOMs below my final assembly due to be driving parts for both Production orders and planned orders. Is there any way we can prevent this? I'm thinking of making the planned orders be exclusively generated for forecast. Please any help is appreciated. Thank you!!!

Hi, many thanks for your interest. Based on your scenario it seems you should be using planning strategy 40 as you are managing both sales & forecast requirements. If not, try using PS 40 with scheduling type 'Backwards' (check config - OPU3). PS40 will allocate the forecast (PIR-type VSF) to sales orders and gets consumed based on the quantity allocated. In case you want to generate planned orders only for forecast/PIR's then use PS '10-Make to Stock'. Sales order requirements will be ignored in this scenario. However, once the stock is replenished in the plant it can be used by sales orders. Hope this helps. -Cheers!

Thanks for this video very helpful...i have one question can we create production order without bom and routing?

Thanks for watching. Yes off course we can create prod order without BOM and Routing, but it would be without material as well. This is usually used in rework scenarios.

Yes, for the MRP setup. You can’t change production order to process order. They are independent objects.

How & where to see the financial results from the production order? Like for process order I can see the cost analysis in COR3?? What if I want to see the mass production order results, how much was the quantity variance, price variance & overhead variance etc how much was production order variance for all the orders created during a period of time?
