That is precisely the key issue and a good approach is described in the next video "How do we align with business initiatives". In practice that takes a lot of dialogue with business where you increase your understanding of the value that data has for the business to make your message more credible. When you are facing the executives you are prepared with a message where data governance is critical for the success of key business initiatives and you are able to explaining that in detail

This is a technical explanation. Data governance cannot be explained from an IT perspective because they need to be taught about data themselves Data is the water that runs through the pipe and IT and is the pipe. The simplest Data Governance video on here is the IBM video. Experts out there are Bob Seiner and Peter Aiken.

Not a technical explanation, but the way of explaining could use some visual aids or metaphors. He is especially highlighting the fact that data governance on it's own right is not valuable. The value comes from the fact how it enables key business initiatives. However I feel this content is more relatable for people who already have some experience with data governance.
