My childhood friend just passed away at age 39 from CF. He had a double lung transplant in July of 2013 and had rejection issues for the past 3 years. I find myself going through all these CF videos to truly understand this disease. Thank you for your video.

I was born with Spina Bifida (SB), and went to summer camp with kids who had CF in my teens. In those days, the median life expectancy for someone with CF was 25, so while 40 is still extremely young (I'm 45 now), I am so happy to hear that the prognosis for someone with CF has improved since the '80s-early '90s.

"You don't look sick" drives me insane!! Like you are absolutely right, you aren't a walking X-Ray and you can't see that my bones are degenerating and that my blood is filled with inflammation. I also struggle with PTSD and for me that also means anxiety and depression and its like "you're right, that's because my meds are working today. Come back tomorrow or when my prescription runs out and see if I seem fine to you!" Mary, you are absolutely beautiful, as i have said before, BUT I don't believe that is because you are a "CF Patient" but rather, it is your spirit and your love for God and the joy you CHOOSE every single day. I have watched vlogs where you are nearing collapsing on Ollie and then when you catch your breath you crack a joke. You are such a wonderful example to all of us, and while I am sure you have BAD days emotionally where you would just rather forget about it all or toss in the towel the fact that you bounce back to your true self is whats so beautiful. I love how Peter so tenderly cares for you while not necessarily being over protective or freaking out or anything. He is such a great role-model for caregivers of anyone with an illness, because it doesn't matter WHAT we have or how visible it is, some days we need more assistance and encouragement and other days we just need to feel in control and he seems to give you that. I may have a disease, but it doesn't have me! #CFAWARENESS

Julia thanks Julia. Mary and Peter are definitely an inspiration as individuals and as a couple. I LOVE how when she is in the hospital he is too while also getting everything else needed on the outside finished. He is so devoted. Not many men (or women) would choose to sleep in the hospital for a week so their partner isn't alone, but it is probably one of the most selfless things you can witness in a marriage is Peter doing that. He chooses the physical discomfort of not his own bed, dry air middle of the night nurses, and isolation all to make HER stay more pleasurable.

"The Frey Life" is changing lives. And you're changing the lives of some people who don't even have CF. Thanks to the completely unselfish efforts of you, Peter, and Oliver, we are all learning courage, tenacity, positivity, the importance of laughter, lessons in eating well, lessons in love, etc., etc., etc. I could fill a page. I've only recently found your vlog and have been following you for only a couple of months. I'm 61 years old - I don't have CF but I do have some chronic diseases that have been difficult to deal with. In a short time, you guys and your vlog have reminded me of values and lessons that I've allowed to collect some dust and cobwebs. THANK YOU for helping me to remember those things. Thank you for what you're doing for the 1000's of people who follow you. I'm grateful that our paths have crossed in this way and wish that I could help you as you have me. My promise to you guys is that I will pay it forward with the grace and spirit that I've learned from yo

I've dealt with her getting made fun of my whole life. it's very hard and just wish people would just accept others. we are not chosen to be born this way.

I really appreciate your positivity and energy and I too am a positive person. It has helped my family as we shared the news with them knowing that we are positive and I hope my son is the same as he grows and deals with this disease. So thank you. Ikr? I've always had severe hayfever & dust allergy and often found people wouldn't talk to me as much as others and some would look upon you as being dirty or something which is pretty hurtful. That said, I've since been diagnosed Lyme which is an immune dysfunction syndrome so I realise now how important hygiene around coughing and sneezing is because we all in fact carry lots of bacterias and viruses but our systems are used to them. But if someone's immune compromised, a healthy person's allergy sneeze or unwashed hand could spread bacteria and viruses which their systems are not able to cope with so could get ill.

One day we can say that CF stands for Cure Found. I am currently in the hospital getting a tune up and on the road to start Orkambi. I have a cat at home that is always alert to whenever I start coughing or something else (never trained to do it) and he will jump up on my lap or lay next to me and start purring to help my body calm down. He loves giving me sandpaper kisses just for the saltiness of my skin. I was diagnosed at 1 month with CF and have made it to 28 soon to be 29.

Out of all the many videos of yours that I have watched, THIS was by far the best ever!!!! It was so nice of you to help us understand a little bit about CF and your daily life. I learned several things I didn't know about CF today. You are an amazing young woman and God bless you on your journey. You can teach us how to love and savor every day as a gift and a joy. There aren't enough good things to say about this video and about you. Thank you very much and God bless you Mary and keep you safe in his arms. Take care...........

Very good information for us out in the world who are often too judgemental for our own good. I had a friend pass when I was a kid about 50 yrs ago, and thought it was just about lungs, too. Now I am learning the real story and feel kind of silly. BUT I did say to my other friends that I didn't understand why people weren't donors. I actually said something like, "They aren't using their lungs after they are dead, so why don't they give them to someone who IS alive and needs them." Transplantation was in it's infancy back then, too. I have always been a donor and have had the pink dot on all my drivers licenses. I also agree about not thinking we know who needs that parking space by the door. We can not tell by look at a person if they have a handicap or not. HOWEVER, do not use it if you don't have a disability and deprive someone who really needs it of the spot. Oh, dear! I am being so preachy today. Sorry! Peace, Love and Light.

Mary, you really are so eloquent!! And you're basically a superhero. I mean, you live everyday with what us non-CFers would compare to an aggressive form of bronchitis (and that is ONLY the lung part! Not to mention other organs infected, plus regular bronchitis can't even compare to CF!), and you STILL can form intelligent sentences and speak with a smile on your face! You pretty much make the rest of us look like these lower level humans and you're over there this amazing, incredible, strong, OVERCOMING human AND encouraging others along the way! I mean, it doesn't get more superhero than that! :-) Loved this video! I did a good bit of research on CF last week (?) and am now informed so that I can inform others and spread awareness! Because awareness= research = finding a cure!! #iminthefightagainstcysticfibrosis

May is also autoimmune arthritis awareness month. :) I was diagnosed at 14 and am now 20. The inflammation took my colon in early April (I had surgery to have it removed) and we're still playing the medication game-- lots of injection trials and low dose chemotherapy...but each day is a gift and we have to keep going! Thank you for inspiring me in my own fight. :)

Hi Mary! I have been following you (and Peter and Ollie) for the last couple of months. It's great to see you add juicing to your diet. You spoke in this video about enzyme deficiencies and malabsorption issues. Juicing is a wonderful way to break down the food prior to eating/drinking...and make it easy on the body to absorb the nutrients.
