I had this done inside my property, the smell was horrendous (non toxic) windows was all sheeted and taped off so there was no ventilation in the property, was suppose to take 3 days for completion, ended up being just over 3 weeks, (was never advised to move out while the work went ahead) myself and children was ill with headache and nausea for the first 3 days while the cork was being sprayed on, once dried and plastered the smell went.

They plaster on top of cork??

Could you point me to the technical characteristics of the final product, and compare with Capoto/ETICS type of insulation? R/U/K values?

On a 9inch brick work wall. To achieve a 0.3 U Value how thick would the cork have to be. Plus can you do a condensation risk analysis. Can you back this up with proven data?

This seem to be only available in the UK. I wonder if alternative solution could be to use cork sheets and clue them to the wall? I assume those could be painted afterwards or even finished off with glass felt and painted for a completely smooth result. Though I can't find any data on how well cork insulate

Mike Wye in Devon has the cork boards, they can be rendered with a lime finish they have as well.

Looks like that rough surface externally will get a lot of dirt embedded in it, that will be tough to get out even with a pressure washer…

Not if it's sealed with paint, polyurethane, or film.

This is really interesting. Is it able to be applied by hawk and trowel? Or always sprayed?

Hi Scott. Spray application only. it cannot be applied using a trowel because it doesn't spread properly or evenly.

​@@troweltalk2719 will this stick to the inside of metal shipping containers? Painted metal or sandblasted/patina Corten steel?

FYI the U-value of 2 coats (6mm) is 4.64. In other words as insulation it's not very effective at all, sadly.

Pretty sure bonding got cork in it

Just swap the water sbr

It's 8mm thick including finishing coatings though.
