Completely new to coding but learning it to develop my own app

Hi all, my name is Ivan. Im 52 years of age going 53 in couple of months. I want to change careers and get into computer career. The reason for this is because I'm always on my computer, I fix friends computers(mostly Macs) never actually fixed a pc computer. But willing to learn fixing pc computers as well. Also I'd like to learn in the IT field too. I understand you don't need to attend a 2 or 4 year college just to get a certificate in IT. I'd like to learn on my own. what would I need to get started besides taking courses at compTIA? What books should I purchase?

Check cyber security and pen-testing. Try to learn Linux OS. There are plenty of free courses on KZread.

The brain loses the ability to learn new stuff fast as you grow. It is not impossible for you but it will be harder for you. In order to become a programmer - you need to: 1. not giving up when it is hard, but instead search for better explanations. 2. Do it your primary objective. 3. After you learn the basics - do some small or not so small project and try to do it piece by piece by researching on the internet.

Every computer language have a website with guides/documentation - you can learn from there or from youtube - you don't need books.

I am thinking of re-training. I know that computing/technology is a good degree. In the past I was a language teacher abroad, but with Brexit I'm out of a job. I speak 3 languages, but a language degree is quite useless. Anyone out there: I'm a basic pc user. Could I start a coding degree with very little experience? Any advice? Thanks!

Good !!, start doing some CSS for styling, then jump to javascript to have control over the html elements, javascript will give you the ticket to the coding world, just be consistent eventhough you don't feel like it sometimes, good luck :)

Grace Lumber trust me, be consistent, patient, modest, do not search for the title of programmer, start a relationship with coding, code is going to break sometimes but keep going, after some months you will see incredible results, and within 2 or 3 years you can work at google, only if you are consistent (3 to 4 hours of code per day), it is your decision :) good luck!
