Many will pray for you from your post. Most men struggle with this but with struggling against it and much prayer, will train you to be a fighter and win against it and other things. Don't be sad, the reason you have this struggle is for your salvation! It has toughened and sharpened me and it will you too. Don't give up! It may take a lifetime but it will get less and less over time. It's a powerful enemy but it is beatable, and you will come out the other end much stronger and closer to God. In Christ, your brother.

It is only by your grace that I still wake to live and breathe air another day. My heart and my soul are crushed by the consequences of my many rebellions. My Lord and my master, Jesus, I bring before you my petition to wipe away my tears ... How long before you turn my mourning into gladness? You know, before I became Christian, I was drawn to some of the Buddhist teachings. They seem to have some good discipline teachings that are similar to Christ’s teachings. But, when I tried the meditation practice, it didn’t work for me. Nothing beats in-depth and hearty prayers to the Lord God in the name of Jesus Christ. It has a power that Buddhist or Hindu mediation cannot achieve. Also, Buddhists and Hindus don’t believe God is a person, they sort of just believe in flowing where the Universe takes you.

Yes, going into high trance states can expose you to dramatic demonic experiences. It does attract demons because sometimes you go into the consciousness of a demon to fight it and it attacks you - that's part of shamanism. But you can also meditate with God; God forms a protective barrier around you and gives you phrases to meditate on that arise from the Holy Spirit; the meditative practice then heals you as you engage in it. You can feel God-meditation in the depths of your spiritual and physical heart - that is a huge distinction bw mind and bliss-based meditation and connecting to God... Epiphanies come from God. You can never express God through the intellect bc He is a mystery beyond words and even ideas... God bless you, Father!

Very insightful! I’ve experienced first hand of those unseemly and uninvited thoughts wandering into my mind from out of nowhere. And whenever that happens, I quickly seek God through prayer or think of my favorite verses to say out loud or read them. It has done wonders for me because God quickens me and helps remove these unwarranted feelings and thoughts that have no place in my mind. I quickly learned it’s the devil trying to play mind games and I’m so thankful I have the Holy Spirit in me to be quick on my feet to pray immediately. At first, I struggled but eventually I caught on. Always, always keep our eyes on Christ. The more we do that, the stronger you are to overcome these demonic influences and stronger spiritually as the body of Christ.

Father, you’re speaking about meditation as the sound of the Lord’s creation in the background is a perfect environment to seek the Lord’s voice. Thank you for your message, father. I’m a young Christian (3 years so still fresh in my eyes) and I’m from the US. If you haven’t already seen and heard yourself, the modern churches here are too focused on rebuking the enemy and centered around how to “slay demons” rather than directing that time into resisting evil and seeking intimacy with the Lord. I was baptized 3 years ago, but in my heart I have always belonged to the Lord Jesus. When I surrendered and received him into my heart, I felt as if I have known him all of my life, he has seen me at my lowest moments, and still loves me and seeks a relationship with me. And that last fact alone completely wrecked me in the best way possible. There is just something in my spirit that does not feel at peace with these churches I referred to earlier and if I voice that to any of my brothers from this church, I’m not received with compassion but instead with doubt and sort of self righteous spirits. It doesn’t make me angry it makes me deeply sad because it feels as if everyone is battling to be the one who can quote the most scripture the fastest, the one who speaks in tongues the most, the one who makes the church service into a scene by whispering in one’s ear “just let go” but pushing him down and telling the congregation it is called being slayed in the spirit or “deliverance”, and I won’t continue because I already don’t like to judge but I don’t feel like it’s me who’s judging, but instead I feel as if it’s the Holy Spirit telling me something isn’t right and I can’t ignore it. I can’t play along with it anymore but I seek more intimacy with the Lord. I’ve watched a couple of your videos along with a couple other orthodox priests and I’m just overwhelmed, father. Please understand I don’t write this to ask anything of you or anybody else, but only to express my gratitude for finding the rest my soul has been telling me it has needed. This I know: according to the law I am a transgressor, I’m not a righteous person. But I also know that I’ve been saved by grace and I wish to rejoice in my salvation rather than fear the enemy and waste my time on someone that has already been defeated by our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. With happy tears in my eyes as I write this, I just wanted to say thank you. Peace be upon you and I’ll be watching more of your videos, father. 🙏🏼❤️✝️

Sometimes i sit in silence with my hand on my heart as i ask Jesus and the Holy Spirit to fill me with their presence. I believe it is a meditation, because i have no words and i just want to sit and be still in the presence of God. Meditation in this way, with Jesus and the Holy Spirit present is perfectly acceptable and even beneficial. Everything for the glory of God. So meditation with God at the centre is not wrong, sometimes it's exactly what my spirit needs! Amen. I hope this finds you well, Christ is risen!

Yeah honestly isn’t that ‘transcental’? I sincerely just question how meditating like this is incompatible with the Christian way of life, obviously taking thoughts captive as they arise, are we really called to not sit in silence and experience peace without ascribing it to the devil influencing us? Nothing but respect for Father Spyridon, but I’m left with questions after watching this

@@TheRittyl I absolutely understand where you coming from. Go deep into the word and pray about it, ask God to reveal the right way to you and even talk to your pastors about it. I did the same and now know when i’m being called to prayer and when God is pouring his spirit upon me to be still and set my heart on him. Every day along with my prayers i do a silent prayer and my heart has learned to be constantly in prayer, i feel filled with the Holy Spirit, and also feel like no sinful thoughts enter my mind because i take a moment daily to be renewed in the spirit (Ephesians 4:17-32, especially verse 23-24). I do recommend you speak to your leaders at Church and others who are also firmly rooted in Jesus Christ, along with your study of the word and you following your convictions have faith God will answer you!

Sin comes out of every Pore depending on the situation. I've found that my own Self Pity leads to more Sin than anything else. Overly occupied with self. This causes me to lose Humility. The Devil likes to hide this from me. This seeing my Sin through Pride and Self Pity. Through this he uses self justifacation. The passions all run together. This is my Meditation that I must act upon. Thank you Father Spyridon.

I'm a Catholic and really like your videos. But when I was 17 I had a very intense and bizzare mystical expereince after I developed a deep interest in the buddhist concept of "satori" otherwise called sudden enlightenment. I definateltly experienced satori. I was having an intense panic attack and suddenly it came onto me like a flash, my sense of self was totally obliterated and all my anxiety vanished along with it and what remained, underneath it all, was an awarness of infinite love and space and joy that I've never felt, whats even harder to describe is that I didn't feel myself to be there. I realised I was not this hopeless mess I thought I was in my head. As a new Christian I do not know how to harmonize this experience with my new Christian world view. I cant just pretend it didnt happen. I honnestly believe that experience was direct contact with something divine. I've had similar experiences when resisting tempation, especially sexual tempation, but no where near the same intensity. Whenever I've experienced it I was always denying myself in some way. Is this compatable with Christianity?

Father Spyridon, how should we approach the idea of salvation? I would love to hear how we should think about our own salvation so that we are confident in the sacrifice of Christ but not arrogant about it either.
