What is Christian Marriage?: The Intimate Marriage with R.C. Sproul

Before people try to re-define marriage, they need to first be able to define marriage. What is marriage? What is the purpose of marriage? How do we regulate marriage? Dr. Sproul considers these things as he looks not only at the origin of marriage, but also explores the freedoms and restrictions God has placed on this sacred institution.
This is the 1st in a series of messages by Dr. Sproul on marriage. See other videos in the series: • The Intimate Marriage ...

This is not biblical marriage it’s traditional marriage. Which is fine. But those who don’t want to allow the pagan state into thier marriages are considered sinners by these traditionalist but the Bible does not call them sinners. I used to like him. Dear God🙏💕❤ in heaven, I come to you in the name of Jesus. I acknowledge to You that I am a sinner, and I am sorry for my sins and the life that I have lived; I need your forgiveness. I believe that your only begotten Son Jesus Christ shed His precious blood on the cross at Calvary and died for my sins, and I am now willing to turn from my sin. You said in the bible that if we confess the Lord our God and believe in our hearts that God raised Jesus from the dead, we shall be saved. Right now I confess Jesus as my Lord. With my heart, I believe that God raised Jesus from the dead. This very moment I accept Jesus Christ as my own personal Savior and according to His Word, right now I am saved. Amen.

True, and that submition is bound by the covenant of marriage, but it should be added that that same covenant also states that men are to give total self sacrifice to their wife. As within marriage the wife plays the part of the Church and the man plays the part of the Lord.

Uh-uh Dr Sproul is my favorite teacher but here he fell pray to the error of Jay Adams: “Alone” and “lonely” are different words and concepts in the Hebrew Bible. Bone 🦴 of my bones and flesh of my flesh, plus the meaning of the word for “help meet” that is “a war ally”, answer why it was not good for the man to be alone. First he would not “grow and multiply and fill the earth” so to perpetuate the History of Redemption marrying a different DNA species, so she had to be a biological match for him and like an ally who matches in reasoning and purpose to battle together. Loneliness is not in the text and is not what God was addressing by forming the woman from the man’s flesh.

whether man was alone or lonely does not make a substantial difference. In the grand scheme of things, God knew man needed a partner for life and in His wisdom provided Adam with a partner for life. The word "help meet" is ezer and it simply means help. For example, Psalm 70:5, the word ezer is used but it is not used in a war context like in the some of the instances the word ezer appears.

"What is Christian Marriage?" OH Boy! I love it...Tell "yuz" why kind Sir... The world today: "adamantly and categorically" espouses; that there are many different kinds of marriages! HOGWASH!. Please listen Brethren and the world: There are millions of "Institutions": that have been built by mortals for 'circa 6,000 yrs. But Marriage "AINT" one of 'em! Because... Jesus. who IS the ONLY true God: INSTITUTED "Marriage". Oh indeed He did. Notice it was way back; when there were ONLY 2 people on this planet. Proof...Genesis 2:24 Therefore shall a man leave his father and his mother, and shall cleave unto his wife: and they shall be(come) one flesh. And "THAT" Brethren is a true "Marriage". Notice: Jesus never said "Wives"; NOR did He ever say "Boyfriends". Amen, amen and AMEN! And Praise Jesus' Holy Name... Thus, the world can call it a marriage all they "wont" too; but in the eyes of our "Precious Creator"; they are nothing but a "Cesspool of Dunghills". So help me Jesus! And hear me well world; I could not care a rat's "derriere"; what ANY one says about me. I stand on it. AMEN! So flame me "To the 4 Corners of the World"; you "Heretical Abominable Sinners", I do NOT care... ...In any case kind Sir and Brethren; Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

@@rufusrajj4698 Three things: 1. Paul would never condone...EVER! 2. Now look at what God said in...Leviticus 20:13 If a man also lies with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them. 3. Romans 1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature: Romans 1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet. Thus,. If ANY one believes it's alright; to act that satan-led Sin; then go and do it! But God/Jesus punishes x 7, for each Sin. But, "Abominable Sins", where God/Jesus WILL punish 10 x 7, for EACH Sin. So go do it Fools! And yes, they ARE Born that way! But the're also; murderers, drunkards, liars, thieves, perverts and etc; in their born's. But it's still an Abominable Sin. @@rufusrajj4698 IF you're using that verse to justify gays, you are completely warping it. Notice the first part of the verse says "her husband". Are you suggesting, that, a woman can marry another woman, as long as she previously had a husband? Doesn't make sense. It was understood, when Paul wrote that verse, that marriage was only between a man and a woman. Paul knew about Genesis 2:23-24. And this is later fortified by Matthew 19:4-5. IF you want to believe gays can marry; that's on you. And may JESUS have mercy!

What does one do, or what should (s)he do... when the realization hits... that they married the wrong person? Plainly, marriage needs to be 'sold' that it is a voluntary life sentence... from which the only escape is death. This is the truth, though hardly encouraging.

Well that kind of comes down on how you view "love" if you view it as a sentiment, emotional reaction then it will tear you up to be in a marriage that doesn't give you that constantly (because it's just not possible). But! If we view love as it's taught Biblically, as a decision we make to love someone daily (even moment to moment), then marriage, while it may still be hard, is not a prison sentence but a daily opportunity to make a decision that 1. Honors God 2. Honors the commitment made to Him and the spouse 3. Honors and roots both parties of the marriage to one another. Hope that helps, will be praying for you or whoever you had in mind ❤

He offered marriage counseling to a married woman and then texted pics of his junk to her. Then he encouraged her to divorce her husband so he could marry her. And even though Lisa had divorced 3 husbands RC Sr agreed to perform the marriage ceremony. Now RC Jr is publicly bashing his late wife, Denise, who died of cancer 10 years ago, saying she was guilty of "marital unfaithfulness." Projection?

Preacher Sproul is a good & respected but he preached about the marriage ceremony & the importance & it's morally good but it's not biblical. He touched on how God created Man & Woman but not what basis God created man & woman? God created man by His image & also He created woman comparable to Adam, meaning in the image of Adam God created Eve. So, both were ultimately in the image of God, the point is that comparable or compatibility is what His methodology & the same is still available, as human beings are born based on this methodology both men & women. God created plants, animals, fruits, vegetables, and all of those creations are continuing till day, the similar way God created Adam & Eve and all of the humans continue to be born, having the same methodology or pattern. So, according to God's method or pattern only both men & women are born but through sin & sexuality which isn't a God's way but sinful or satanic way. Therefore, if anyone plans for a marriage then he has to go with a method or pattern of God & apply in search of his/her life partner. In this method it's fixed that there is a man born for a particular woman and the same vice versa. There's no need to get counseling from the parents, elders, pastors who promote traditional counselling to look for a woman or man who is humble, gentle, honest, God fearing, loving & caring etc., In these kinds of method are seems moral and good but it's not a biblical wedding 💒. These sorts of weddings are moral & worldly, and it may seem successful b/c couples who got married may live happily for 50 years or 70 years and until death & in this sort of couples may be found among all religions & even among atheists. Thus, it's not a biblical wedding.
