@@bykchoihow many interviews did you go through. I went through multiple rounds and didn’t get the role I was so irritated. I’ve worked in CM for about a decade and looking for a new role.

I am a change manager/practitioner. I think you did a great job at a high-level change management consultant role - what's the point of companies having role(s) like this. And I agree with the "why" you choosing this role; helping others in this way makes it worth while.

Change management often comes in as a result of a new CEO; it is political, factional, and firings(attempted at least) are involved. The examples you give are more on changing out systems, "rip-and-replace" as it was known. From an IT perspective, transitioning to new systems is really painful for everyone, especially if there are partners up and downstream(manufacturers and retailers) that mandate the use of certain ancient technologies. Hope you get to consult with one of these older companies, and when you do remember to build good relationships with the incumbent staff.

I also took a systems design class where we discussed employee resistance to new information systems during deployment. I'm looking into a Master's in HR right now that covers career development, training, change management, etc. Do you think this would be a good way to break into the management consulting industry? Hey there I am a new subscriber and I love you content. I have few question I think only you could answer them. I graduated from industrial engineering with low GPA and I work now as a change Management analyst in the largest utility company in middle east. So my question is what are my chances to work in big consulting firms like EY,PWC ..ect? How many years should I work in my current job before apllying to the firms? And what should I do to boost my chances to get in them. Ex. Get MBA,PMP?

Would you advise pursuing an mba or a masters in change management? I’m worried if it’s too specific I won’t have the flexibility.

Also when you consult is it just with the company leaders or do you try to ask the people at the bottom how their experience can help create a better flow too? What’s working what’s not at a employee level?

I had a 3.58 GPA for my BA in English (in the U.S.) and I got a Distinction for my Master's in Management (was not a master's in English). Most people study business or economics when they go into consulting but there are also a lot who have degrees in engineering or the humanities. It really all depends! In terms of leaders vs. front line people... at the beginning of the change process, it's usually with leaders. Later on, it's more with front line people. We even do focus group tests with front line people to make sure the messages are resonating with that audience, because they're ultimately the people who have the execute the change!

Hi I have the same job but I am specialized in finance. It really depends. I work in Paris and all the big financial companies are already in Paris so I don't need to travel I just move from company to company in the city. But I have colleague who go back and forth to London... So if you work in a BIG city you might be able not to travel if you don't want to but you'll find out in the job offer or during the interview if it is required or not. It also depends on the project you will work on but you always know that before agreeing to a new mission. Then after a few years you can become independent so you'll decide.

The senior team probably doesn’t have the bandwidth to take on the change management implementation. Also, they’re experts in their own company/industry, but not on how to effectively engage people in change.

I only applied to some MBB graduate schemes in London (usually for people coming straight from uni) - not experienced hire positions. I actually focused a lot more on internal/in-house roles in employee engagement

Lots of consultants I know (especially in large firms) have ended up leaving consulting after 2-3 years. But I also know people who stay for much longer. Depends on what you want :)

how can i convince my parents that majoring in english is not a waste of time? my dad thinks that i’ll have a hard time finding/sustaining a job and my mom is worried about money/prestige. i have been trying to tell them all of the things i could be but they wont listen. im switching from biomedical sciences to english btw.

I love how the west presents obvious things in such sophisticated vocabulary you immediately think it is so difficult and complicated that it ends up being complicated lol Basically you assist the company in doing things they can’t be bothered wasting their time on when they should be working.
