In 1984 I had arthroscopy surgery for left knee (rear) popliteal cyst and the surgeon cut against the hinge of the knee - I believe 'cutting against the grain' caused unnecessary scar tissue to build up; although I think I have held it back with stretching/ pilates/ orthotics. I am now 60 and had to stop running in June 2021 (3x per week 5km). I understand scar tissue is causing arthrofibrosis in terms of my range of movement as having lots of issues such as PF (both feet), gastroc 'pulls' etc. - I really would appreciate your advice !! Running/ jogging helps me so much with Aspergers that I am not coping well at the moment - I am trying substitutes such as Pilates and Walking but they don't produce similar endorphins and I don't get the same mental health benefits. Thanks, John B.A. (Hons.) Sport Studies Aspergers/ HFA Be yourself you know it's true; When in the end what's left is you" Almond and Ball

Bob and Brad I have a question for you guys. I love the videos. I have been running vigorously for the past few months. I recently pushed a wheelbarrow up a hill filled with wood I took a running start. I did this two times. No pain after doing it. Then a few days later I moved a chest of drawers on my hands and knees. I woke up about 5 days after that and had pain behind my knees. It was a burning/tender pain. Now when I extend my my knees from a seated position I notice it shakes. Also I have calf tightness and some twitching. Any idea what this could be.

Thank you so much the back if my knee hurts a lot. Sometimes when I do Theraphy it helps me. But I did sprained my ankle before about 3 months before and started walking and than my knee started hurting . I started Theraphy on my knee and now my ankle hurts ,too. I think I might just end up going to the doctors if my Theraphy doesn’t help. My sides of my knee swell up and my calf gets stiff like the muscle . I do use ice after walking and Theraphy. Again thank you so much, praying it gets better. I enjoy the both of you always , take care ya’ll. ❤️

For me It feels like an inverse/opposite Osgood Schlatter(it's the only reference i have to describe it) I had that when I was 20 and was unable to do leg extension in the gym, doing exercises without warming was painful 10/10...i don't feel any pain doing sports, jumping, landing, running, or any other activities, it is just noticeable when I flex my knee against a resistance.

I am an avid Duathlete (Olympic distance mainly) and find that I am in a constant battle with tight IT bands and quads. Maybe once every 6 months(or less frequently) I'll have a hard run workout followed by this buzzing feeling right behind my left knee. It's like a little vibration feel inside. Maybe its from overwork or just being too tight..who knows. Is there any sort of stretch you'd recommend to mitigate this or stop it when it happens. It eventually goes away on it's on but I'd like to help it along or better yet stop it before it starts. Relevent medical history..I have had two left ankle surgeries (snowboard accidents) and have a full tear in my PCL in my right knee from a bike accident years ago that several orthos advised against attempting to repair.

Since turning 50 most of my serious injuries happen at the theatre including ongoing pain on the inside right knee. It happened a few years ago when I stood up after a 2 hour performance. I spent most of the time seated. Sometimes it gets better to the point where I barely feel it, but then it will come roaring back. It hasn't become so serious that it requires a doctors visit but it is frustrating. Like plantar faucitis. Any recommendations would be appreciated.

Hello Bob and Brad😊 I started having electric shocks behind the knee! Had an ultrasound done for the Bakers cyst, which I have, but, it’s tiny and not pressing on the nerve. I do have outside of thigh pain(not meralgia paresthetica) some doctors say it’s the band from the hip, that goes all the way down to form the IT band, but, why electric shocks?!!! One time, I had STABBING, EXCRUCIATING pain, in the OUTSIDE of the knee, and, this has been going on for three years already, and, not ONE DOCTOR, knows what’s going on! Please, any thoughts?

@@devinisdead4061 I did managed to diagnose it myself and it turned out to be the pain coming from mid back all the way to the ankles there is a nerve in our lower back which is connected to the ankles and if it is damaged/hurt then whole leg feels like it is hurting from different points. This specific issue has gone now by doing exercises, in my case my pain point was below knee to the ankles so I started "Calf Raises" and there was another stretching for ankles specifically. It fixed it after giving this workout a couple of weeks. In summary, only workout is the saviour if you can't do that then at least incorporate stretching 3 times a day for lower body area (Lower Back to Ankles). Hope it helps, It'll go away but 2-3 weeks are needed to make it work.

I never received any information on what ti do about the excruciating pain under my knee & no one in the office could explain what I could do to feel better. At PT they seemed confused as to why? I later learned that a major blood vessel was near the cyst so drs were afraid to drain the cyst to relieve the pain. After my knee replacement the Dr. finally drained the cyst. During tennis serve, somehow back of the knee got sore, on the frontleg/foot side. Probably caused in the after follow through motions, thus the frontfoot landing. The soreness is felt as if the upper part of the calf directly behind the knee. No significant swellings. I am 1.89 cm / 6.2 ft weighing about 105 kg. It does not seem to be the popliteus muscle directly, yet may be affected somehow indirectly. When walking the stiffness of pain is felt just at the very start of the leg push, thus at the loading moment. My impression it is some sort of tendonitis. With my type of serve, tossing the ball well inside the court, it is impossible not to come off from the ground, with my frontleg, and thus be forced to have a follow through step after landing. So pretty heavy work to the area mentioned. I am 60, yet have a coiling and release motion complex, that is no different from the fastest ATP pro servers with a big shoulder/torso coil and big loading towards the backfoot. The classic technique thus rather than the modern that loads the backfoot moving forward after a tiny backward press to push the backfoot forward during the shoulder coil. I hope to be able ti pick up tennis as soon as possible, yet try to stay on the safe side, so not too early. Maybe a some kind of knee brace might be advisable, which one though?
