I don’t remember what year it was but I saw the news of a man who killed his wife after drinking coffee. He kept telling the police that every time he drank coffee he felt different. I worked with a person with bi-polar and it is very difficult many people quit their job and so did I. I never understood why she was never told not to come back to work. She lied a lot and manipulated many people and things. I never mistreated her in any way no matter what she did to me and others but I couldn’t continue to work there

Mushrooms are very medicinal. This is why anybody familiar with psilocybin and any other kind of fungi will tell you, "They are alive." They have a very ancient wisdom. To my experience, all mushrooms have always said, "Pay attention to your life. How you think, how you feel, and what will you do with the information that you always knew, but now are seeing in this point of view." This is why mushrooms are so respected in tribal cultures.

"Being upset doesn't mean you have bipolar disorder." No one should make a diagnose without a careful research. Psyciatrists in Argentina would say you are depressed when you just need money to eat and be treated like a human. You cannot judge somone after being one day with them. Mental health needs better awareness. Also, having insomnia doesn't mean you are bipolar. It means you are living with high levels of stress

His description of bipolar 1 is a 100% accurate representation of mania. My manic episodes historically have lasted for 3-6 months. It’s so exhilarating & I feel like I am capable of unlimited potential. Yes I have believed I need to save the world. I start new businesses & I take on simultaneous projects that I have no track record in completing. Then the mania ends. The magical neuro-chemical superpowers have depleted. The absolute terror now becomes realised that the original inspiration & motivation has actually been mostly delusional & grandiosity. It’s a living nightmare every time to experience the embarrassment & public humiliation that I create when having an episode. But the reality for me has been probably 20% mania versus 80% depression. Haunted by the destruction of a life in chaos. It’s a loneliness I wouldn’t wish on anyone. A vacuum & a void I can’t even describe. The depressive aspect of bipolarity is hard to survive. Thank you for the clarity in this video. I have stories to tell that can blow peoples minds with respect to my experiences in mania. Beautiful & magical, certainly not all bad or all delusional. But the most honest assessment is that this illness has devastated my life in every area possible over time. Medications are very effective for some people, but not for everyone, including myself. Sending my love to anyone else that suffers with bipolar disorder & also to the families & loved ones that have to carry the burden of a baffling reality they will never fully understand….❤️

All of my life I've struggled with depression and anxiety. I also experience episodes of mania. I've always known that there was something going on with my mental health, but I never had the courage to reach out for help. Once I did, I was diagnosed with Bipolar disorder, and everything made sense. I was actually relieved to know that I was right all along, but also, I felt ashamed because the stigma attached to mental health disorders. Working with my BHC has helped a lot. She helps me walk through the process of managing Bipolar disorder. She also is very open and understanding to my emotions of transitioning into this state of mind that accepts that I do have Bipolar Disorder. That, more than anything, helped me feel comfortable enough to continue reaching out for help. I can't stress enough, if you know there is something off with your mental health, find the courage within you to reach out for help. It may be hard and scary to do so, but it is a necessary step towards progress. I heard a lot of people make fun of Bipolar Disorder, and that needs to stop. Don't be ashamed of having a mental health disordered, instead, take the necessary steps toward managing them, and teach people who have narrow minds about the topic along the way.

As someone w Bipolar I, it is near impossible to sustain a "normal" life. I've ruined my life over a dozen times during manic episodes. I take my meds every day but there are certain triggers that set me off. I've tried so hard to stay stable (meds, therapy, treatment) but it's terrifying that I can go into a manic episode and not really know it until I come out of it. It's so heavy. And then there comes the depression...

Bipolar 2 here. Good on you for keeping consistent with the meds and treatment. If you aren't already exercising, become addicted to exercise. It has helped me so much. Start journaling. What are the mania triggers? Do they happen randomly or is there some correlation you can find? Could be eating unhealthy for a week gets you into an episode the next week (random example). When I have a manic episode, try to take advantage of the small "benefits"! Clean the house, go on a walk, and get together those clothes you've been meaning to donate to goodwill. Embrace the suck! All jokes aside, I hope you are doing well, I feel your pain, and just keep chugging along. Lost many friends, jobs, addiction issues, etc... myself but now use it as motivation to say Fu*k you to this illness by living a better life. Need to stop watching so much youtube though haha. Edit. Eat healthily and get quality sleep. Invest in your health. You got this 👍

It's sad that this isn't extremely common knowledge by now. Bipolar isn't a difficult illness to understand and yet casually drop the word mania in convo and people look at you like they're a new born baby deer. It takes all of 10 minutes of reading or watching a video to put two and two together and figure out what its about, people just want it out of sight and out of mind like they do with the homeless. It's going to be a long road for society to come to terms with mental illnesses while not blatantly discriminating and stigmatizing. I was diagnosed in 99 and can honestly tell you in many ways the psych field and general public have gone backward since then.

My prayers for those people experiencing bipolarity. I am glad we´ve raised awareness about this disorder which I faced for 12 years. I almost jumped off a bridge one time, but didn´t think I was going to die. I learned to watch my sleep and stress, and my diet. I simplified my life and became very appreciative of what the Lord gave me. My journal helped me to keep track of my feelings, thoughts, and emotions. There are more things we can do to improve our mental health. It´s not easy, but is possible to overcome it and lead a healthy life. My last episode was in 1999 and sometimes I miss my manic episodes. I only was 20 years old when I thought I could be the president of my country or do so many things. God bless all the psychiatrist and psychologists!

I have type 2 bipolar and I knew that a lot of my depression stemmed from a physical injury that I had for many years but was able to fix once I saved up the money. Brain structure even down to a cellular level is different in bipolar people. I think it can be managed with the right knowledge and many young people with the illness can avoid life changing mistakes if the stigma wasn’t there and people without the illness were also educated about it.

Thank you so much for this, my dad is JUST like this and it was such an eye opener. As a young child and even now, he would promise all these things to me but would never fulfill them. He would create these businesses too (i think like three or four) to the point where he would put so much money into a “business” that when he gives up, he would fall into the depression stage and wouldn’t provide for my brother and I. He would also (and still does) tell me that God spoke to him. For instance, once he was dating this one girl from a different country and when he went to meet her in person for the first time, he proposed to her (they only knew each other for two months) on a mountain (according to him) and claimed that God spoke to him in that moment. They never ended up getting married which is what i expected though. I love my dad of course but i just wanted to share my personal experiences and thank Medcircle for making this video.

Describing my husband. Suddenly his behaviors make sense. He described going days without sleep in elementary school! He had no idea this wasn't normal until I told him. He also thinks he is operating at his best during that time so he likes to kick it up a notch by drinking a pot of espresso strength coffee and using a can of dip per day. It is exhausting and brings me to the verge of divorce when he gets really bad.

Mental health isn't always about how we, ourselves feel. It's more often how we make others feel. If empathy is practiced, then it's not unreasonable to assure you're being your best self for one another. I'd break the ice and see a doctor, drag him along after you've established your situation.

This is so damn relatable. I confused being a maniac with the symptoms of falling in love dor the first time. I didn’t feel the need to sleep, felt like a superhuman, wouldn’t sit even once in the entire day. I felt sooo much so that I wanted to talk to some Doctor for being so high and so happy. At times, I wont be able to read even a single paragraph from any book.

I’m have bipolar disorder I w/psychosis. I would go around to movie venues telling them I was a movie critic to get in free, wardrobe coordinator for a reality show going into luxury stores to try stuff on, screenwriter to make a movie about my fabulous life, and the Guinness books worlds fastest typist thinking I had crashed network computers. I was also a superhero sent to stop people from driving drunk feeling I could pounce on speeding cars to stop them marching up and down the freeway 12 hours at a time without no sleep. I took off to West Hollywood, CA; stayed at the chateau marmont thinking I was a celebrity. Picked up a homeless man and drove 100 mph on sunset blvd. I flew back home wondering why nobody wanted to party with me anymore? That’s when I called 911 for help. I was undiagnosed 😢
