Did you feel your brain doesn't function normally? I suffer that all the time. I can't see anybody because I just tell my hell all the time to my loved ones. Have used benzo for terrible panic attacks as prescriped (doctor didn't warn me when my dog had to put to sleep at the age of 16 2021 summer. I felt relief year ago when doctor did crossover to oxazepam to diazepam and brain lock went away and that constant panic. I could function normally few weeks but taper was too quick and went badly wrong. Now I taper with Ashton manual, crossover from klonopin to diazepam. I don't have power left, I am isolated a lot because I tell my hell all the time to my loved ones. I am in that constant panic with brain lock like year ago when had bad withdrawl symptons of oxazepam. I try to walk and run but can't focuse on that because of brain lock. Now my doctor says I have tolerance and this drug causes me more anxiety and brain lock can go away when I am enough time off of this drug. I don't know how to survive tapering with this awful panic and brain lock. Thank you if you read this and could answer did you feel brain function problems.

I agree with what you are saying and it’s helpful. You said you came off you regained that childlike response to things. I knew while I was on the benzo that my reactions and feelings were somewhat muted but at least I still had that childlike interest and ability to feel joy. Now in my taper I have very little joy and am so symptomatic it’s hard to concentrate and feel much of anything because the symptoms keep me tied down. The lower I go the worse it gets and I constantly question whether this is right for me.

Hi, I feel exactly what you say. Did you feel your brain doesn't function normally and can't understand that people can do normal things and live their lives normally and became overwhelmed of any normal things? I call it brain lock and suffer it all day. And horror mornings like you feel you die in that second and can't take one day anymore like this. I was prescriped a big amount of benzo and no warnings after trauma and I was before that social, active, confident person and now i am isolated a lot because I tell my hell all the time to my loved ones and feel like I'm in a different reality from other people. I fear everything and can't do much. My partner is waiting me and I would have a good life ahead. Third time to try to get off of this drug. Please if you can answer if you had any problems with brain function and understanding normal things. I fear I have permanent brain damage. Doctor thinks when I'm enough long time off of benzo my anxiety will get easier and brain lock will go away. I have to go to my country's best rehab center, I talked to the clinics head leader and he was very wise and kind and said at least two months there tapering. I am now doing Ashton manual but can't do this year. Thank you if you answer. All the best.

i can reassure you of one thing as i did research on the topic. benzo withdrawal is not just benzo withdrawal where we blame everything on benzos. its heavily anxiety related. if you want to move forward and get better you should definately get your anxiety treated. why so confident to what im saying? because the brain is neuroplastic. which means that it adapts and heals overtime and not get worse even through damages and so on. so its not the benzos fault where you are feeling worse and worse its anxiety induced hyperarousal. after a month or two which is the bulk of withdrawal the tough part goes away and its healing towards better after that.even in ashtons manual it says that benzos and their withdrawal are heavily correlated with anxiety and those who take care of that aspect and reduce stress religiously heal faster than those who dont. that would not be possible if benzos just made everyone increasingly worse and worse. i hope that answers your questions. there have even been people who got shot in their head and the missing brain parts got better in time due to neuroplasticity. the horror stuff you hear around the internet has tons of variables in them. even if you had anxiety itself and never touched benzos you would feel even worse than benzo withdrawal in many cases and if left untreated it could go on for many many many years or even indefinately. but if you treat it and keep persevering only better things await you. thats my opinion at least after research and thats a huge factor that no many people talk about and just blame benzos. ask people with anxiety disorder how they feel. its similar and in severe cases worse than benzo withdrawal and more long lasting. it depends on if youre treating your hyperaroused state or not via anxiety reduction and stress reduction. if not then guess what. its like kicking a broken leg, it will never heal because it simply cant. you need to stop kicking the leg so it heals up@@Goree5157

I agree with almost everything, The plant based whole food approach is just wrong. As a ex vegan who was plant based for 43 years ontop of a nutritionist who worked with two others as we ran a workshop teaching plant based dietary changes, I can with confidence say the bulk of society has been lied to, Plant based diets are counterintuitive to human beings with damages being irreversible to malnutrition. Whole foods is a buzz word used to promote crop sales like the pyramid diet which the department of Agriculture developed in 92. There's a reason long term plant goers become extreme sick But all the other advice is sound

I strongly disagree. All the scientific literature supports a whole food plant based diet as the healthiest. It’s the only diet that can reverse heart disease, type II diabetes, etc. if we look at our bodies, we aren’t designed to digest animals. Nor do we have a prey drive or the claws and teeth to capture and tear apart an animal and eat it raw. Most vegans do not have malnutrition or deficiencies. But even omnivores have malnutrition or deficiencies. But you do you. Nutritionfacts.org is a fabulous resource.

@@idesigncutethings2196 You phrased it well. Yes, I think the perceived intensity of suffering is worse when focused on so hard. It is not only a place in which cyberchondria can be induced, but filled with anecdotal experiences that we can assume will be or is our own. I think it has some proper resources for taper plans and could be a supportive environment if it were structured a bit differently. If you spend too much time in there, you can easily become obsessive about symptom reading and cause self fulfilling prophecies. OCD is a common withdrawal state and it reinforces OCD behaviors. Get CBT, DBT, ERP, or really anything more conducive if you can. I am farther into my taper than when I left and feel less stressed, believe it or not.
