What is Architecture?
Ғылым және технология
The definition of architecture is - "Architecture is what architects design."
Whatever that is.
Then we must ask; "What is it architects design?"
The reason architecture is such an interesting field of study is because so many things are being designed at the same time. We may call these design elements or design products. But to understand architecture we should start by asking, what is being designed?

Again a great video. Love it when architects, designers or creatives (in general) are reflecting on what we do, how and why. Providing the necessary meaning of what we do. Thank you!
Architecture is a tool for solving the needs of the subject and society in the organization of space, which will satisfy not only the issue of comfort of existence6 but also the development of knowledge of the surrounding world through contemplation, being and total interaction in it. ;) all class!
I was very disappointed with myself as an architecture student, but you are right, I don´t need to be a master in everything, architecture is also about communication and collaboration. I do like the social part of the architecture, but I´m not really good in other aspects, yet I do love to create space for people, and I do love to see people using the area. I do not care about being extravagant or too artistic. but I want to create spaces that people do actually need and use. So maybe I´m not too lost. thanks.

Architecture is a very wide field, and there are so many things you can do. Don't give up. Just focus on the parts you love, and do that.

Architecture gives glory to human life by bringing order and development to man's environment so that it will function properly within and around a structure that is safe, healthy and beautiful.
great insight and inspiration keep up the great work !
good tactics and presentation

A great video, your videos are the best I have seen architecture. I think it would be helpful to talk about how a team of engineers coordinate to create a building. Like coming up with an example of an architect who wants to design a building but needs a structural engineer then they need someone who knows the regulations and then someone who can create the working drawings...etc. As a student it is hard for me to see how such a teaam comes into existence, and what thing each of them do... Thank you for the video!

Over the years I've seen a lot of people try to use AI or something like it to generate architectural design. The closest I've seen is the use of Grasshopper to generate plans in Rhino. The problem with AI in architecture, is so often architects are doing one off building designs. There really isn't much automation can do for very small data sets. You need to train AI on large data sets. So I don't see AI solving many architecture problems. But it may be able to eliminate the work required for architectural renderings. Imagine putting in a plan or a model into a program and it renders a full photo realistic rendering in seconds. I think that would be a real possibility soon.

Maybe we offer some answers from well-known architects from around the world to this question :)

Yes, the often the definition of architecture is; "it is what architects do".
we are here
In order to justify the time it takes to qualify the profession needs to acknowledge that we are a 'master' of all and a 'jack' of none. The professional indemnity insurance business requires a huge increase in premiums if we design basements (which we are qualified to do) and requires us to employ a structural engineer. What they fail to realise that no qualifications in the UK are needed to call yourself a structural engineer (or indeed any building designer except architect). Therefore in order to get insurance cover we have to 'offload' basement design to a job holder who doesn't need to be qualified!!! The only way in the UK of ensuring your building designers are qualified is the require them to be 'chartered', a status that requires them through professional codes of practice to be qualified, experienced and competent. The UK needs our legislation to be similar to that of Australia, Canada, France, Germany, New Zealand and the USA etc.

I think NCARB worked with the UK ARB to make reciprocity between UK architects and USA architects. I think this is in effect now. To do that they had to standardize requirements. I was on a call a few months back where NCARB announced this. www.ncarb.org/blog/reciprocity-the-uk-how-to-take-advantage-of-the-new-agreement

@@robertsarchitecture The advantage you have in the USA is that unqualified persons are not allowed to design buildings. The UK only protects the job title. There is no protection of function for architects, engineers or surveyors. Unfortunately, the public ASSUME building designers are qualified when that is most certainly not the case.
you should mention an overarching definition about art and science and physics in architecture before talking about space and form. to create a good space and form you should be a good artistic and you have a good science background.

It is just a rendering from Storyblocks. They have a lot of science fiction and video game renderings on their site. This probably comes from a video game.

@@robertsarchitecture PS - those ink and watercolor images showing the spatial areas and plans were also really well done. I especially liked the ones that showed the areas around the human body - - reminded me a little of those famous Leonardo da Vinci sketches.
Earthlings push political religion in everything. Hahahahaha!
Architecture for me is best way to waste my youth...
The arrogance of architects.. although structural engineer's 'may' be hired.. Haha.. What a joke
