    Three things make an epic 1. The object of ultimate love 2. The quest to attain it 3. The willingness to fling away life itself like a trifle beside it

    Mr . Esolen sounded SO happy that the people he spoke to understood his jokes. (I think he is great, but not many people catch all his references).

    I had never thought of Isaiah 55:8 as a call to adventure. He renders that and numerous other thoughts newly exhilarating-great lecture.

    2019 Discovered the wonderful Professor Esolen in journals I buy every book he writes have been following him prior to conversion to Catholicism under Pope Benedict am sure he was an influencer - so grateful for him and his works. Great listening to him read Dante on Audible books through amazon and following along on the poem by the best poet in human history
