Message them and say you shipped what was in the photos and ask if maybe they purchased a similar item from another seller. I believe you can also get the weight of the box you sent from the post office.

Dave, USPS will have documented the weight of the package as it comes and goes to new facilities, and they will be able to pull that information up for you, upon request- and i think they will have actual photographs or stills from video to prove it. I would definitely report this buyer as an online shoplifter and give out his username so other resellers can block him.

I'm also wondering if you cand send him a picture of the case from your listing v the one he is claiming you sent? Show that you know it's not the one you sent. I also love the weight idea.

USPS weighs the package and see if and when something happened. Lol.

I had a customer threaten negative feedback, I didn’t respond, instead I immediately emailed eBay reporting him going against eBay’s policies. I never heard from, nor gotten negative feedback or anything from him again.

The hair cut looks great, Dave. I know without really knowing you, that you would never do something dishonest. He is definitely not telling the truth and is taking advantage of sellers online. It’s Sad that people can’t just be truthful. You are a wonderful human and anyone that watches you, sees that! Keep being awesome. Lots of ❤ to you and your family!

Go to Joannes and get two extra long, measuring tapes and put one on a vertical bar in your storage area and one on a horizontal shelf. Tape them on with clear tape. They won’t move and they will be very accessible when you need them. I’ve done it on my sewing table before and it’s very useful.

eBay doesn’t really enforce policy about feedback, I have negative feedback from buyers who cancelled transaction before paying and eBay wouldn’t remove it like 2 days ago, so it’s a Crap shoot

Hi Dave! I LOVE watching your videos!! I had a buyer say the item (a ring) was received severely damaged yet there was ZERO damage to the protective ring box or the outer packaging. The photo he sent showed a ring absolutely destroyed (all bent up). I told him to keep the ring and I refunded him the $9 and shipping. I knew that was NOT the ring I shipped ass my listing was in mint condition. Long story... he was also a seller on eBay, only selling this particular brand of rings. After a few months I looked at his feedback and I saw where he as accusing someone else of doing exactly what he did to me! His buyer left negative fb and he was responding, trying to clear his name. Oh, and his screen name translates to metal twister (I probably shouldn't say the actual name). GOD IS GOOD!!

Like the haircut and am proud of you "sourcing" your own inventory. On the return of the missing tools - I had a similar situation with an arrived broken item. The photo the customer sent was not the item I sent. My approach was to ask the customer if they had ordered more than one of this item from different sellers as that item was not the one I sent. Customer apologized and said that they did order more than one and it was not mine that had arrived damaged. Honest mistake on her part OR if she was trying to pull a fast one - realized that I was paying attention.

Yes, this would be the best way to handle a situation like that, even if you're 99.9% sure they're trying to scam you. Message them and say you shipped what was in the photos and maybe they purchased a similar item from another seller.

Look at your shipping label. I assume you weigh every box before you print the label. What is the weight on the box?

When I need motivation....I find 1-2 items that are easy to list. That usually gets me headed in the right direction.

ebay will 100% close a return you opened if you go file a chargeback against them with your bank

Hi Dave. Here's a suggestion to alleviate some of the heat buildup in your storage container. I used this idea in my shed and it works pretty well. Pick up an inline fan, you can get one from Grainger or any home center- maybe 8 or 10 inches, square or round. Then cut out a hole on one end near the ceiling of the container and mount the fan. Air flow should be toward the outside. On the other side cut out an equally sized hole to act as the fresh air flow in. Then mount a fixed grill on either side outside of each hole in the container to finish the job. You can even get fancy and wire it to an attic thermostat for automatic operation, or just a simple switch will do. This will at least remove some of the hot air that accumulates in the container. It's not AC, but will definately help. And don't operate it when AC is on, of course. Mike from NY

This is a virus spreading through eBay and they must get on top of it, dishonest buyers making purchases, once package arrives they just take a photo of something worthless and they get their money back and seller a worthless item returned to them, Heartbreaking to see wicked people taking advantage of sellers like you, honest people working hard to feed their families and people abusing it. Always fight Dave, don’t let them get away with it. Cheerio! :)

I would absolutely not let him get away with trying to scam you. I cant stand people like that. I filed a police report on the last one thay tried to scam me. I got my money back & found out the person had multiple police reports filed against them for online theft.

If you have ceramic tiles on your floor, you can use that a measuring tool. 12 inch tile or 18 inch tile. I do this in stores to see how long or tall it is.

Your case with the tools is one of the rare ones where I would call the police department serving his address and ask how to file a theft report. I wouldn't include any extra information but just explain that you sold him the item and have a record on video for your youtube channel of packing it (including what the case looked like). I'd say that he alleged he received an empty case but when he provided pictures, the tool box was not the one you had sent and that his story about what happened changed several times during his contacts with you. I'd use the following words: "I'm a fulltime online seller on ebay, Mercari, and WhatNot. In over __________ sales, I've never had a buyer allege receiving an empty box although I've heard from other sellers that this does happen occasionally." I wouldn't let this go; it's just like having him break into your car and stealing the package from you - except that you have video catching him in his lie. Good luck.

You find it hard to believe because the probability of someone happening to have that box sitting around and then having to happen on your package are slim to none . He is the scammer and you should call him out !

Stand your ground... I sell on Ebay also and there are some of shady buyers at times.

Just me, but I don't think I would be leaving the cds, dvd's etc in the storage unit. I have always been told heat will damage them. Not sure how accurate, never wanted to chance it.

it's a wheel puller. you put that in a round item with bolt in middle and tighten it up on the bolt on the puller. the puller pulls the wheel off.

Remember, organization and cleanliness lead to a more 'efficient' selling aspect of your business. One of Carnegie 's courses from years ago was just on Organization. I believe in these tried and true methods even though they are 40 to 50 years old. Just an fyi, Dave 😉

When I spiral, I stop for the day. Usually, next day I get everything done 2x faster.

I always thought Florida was like Hawaii until i started watching resellers there. Now i realize its closer to Louisiana than Hawaii. Its either very hot & muggy or raining. 😂

It's not even fair to call it heat. I grew up in the Mojave Desert. It can get upto 120 in the Summertime, but there is absolutely no moisture in the air. When you sweat, it immediately evaporates. The heat there can actually feel good. In the Southern U.S. the humidity makes the heat insufferable. When you sweat, it's ain't going nowhere. It just clings to your body. The air is so thick with moisture, it's harder to breath.

When I sell items that are mailed, typically over $100. I take a snapshot and print out one for my files and one that is mailed with the item to the buyer. That way, there is absolutely no question as to what they bought and received. It's a bit more work, but worth it! 🙂

Sounds like that dude bought multiple items... I would just say thats not what I sent. I always include a packing slip so they knew what came from who... lol... if that makes sense. Great haircut and your storage container is looking so much better.

Check the weight on your label. It will never end until you block. eBay is better removing negative lately especially in this case

When they tell you obvious lies, I'd be honest with them and say "I record all shipments in case there are issues with shipping damage or delivery" and then attach a screenshot of the video that shows what you pulled. Point out that the case they're showing you is completely different than the one you sent. It also may be helpful to say/ask if they ordered other tools from a different seller because the item they're showing isn't what they ordered from you. When you show you have documentation, they have no leg to stand on for their return/complaint and ebay can see that, too.

He understands what he is doing Dave he is waiting until he gets his money. He isn’t going to leave negative feedback because he knows you can respond. Reselling is your main job and doing this to people is his. Question for you 🤔 where did you ship the package? Do you know if it was an international sale?

It surprises me after all your sales this is the first time it has happened to you regarding the scammer. Regarding the measuring tape, my wife steals mine all the time. I have like 5-6 at this point because she keeps taking them and misplacing them, so I buy a new one. They eventually get found but then also all get misplaced again. Ughh.

The PO would have caught a weight discrepancy on the shipped package.? I mean if you shipped a 4# package and it registered 1# somewhere along the shipping process it would possibly prove at what point the weight was changed? I think they check it at the different destinations. Not sure thoiugh.

Why don't you still pursue the claim with the postal service. They would be able to tell you the weight of the box upon arrival to the buyer. Don't the mail service provider take a picture of the box when they deliver it?

Regarding the sending of a possible empty box complaint you had, I am from over the pond so our shipping is different from yourselves, but don't you have to weigh your parcels to pay for labels, wouldn't this supposedly empty box weigh a lot less than the full one so the label would of been wrong surely?

See I'd be so tempted to write back "This is great content to my KZread channel, keep the mad ramblings coming." Keep up with the case through the post office, if the credit card company sees that a mail fraud investigation is open they might think twice about refunding this guy.

I have dealt with a credit card dispute before and eBay WILL close out the "return" case BUT at the same time eBay WILL notify you by message stating that a claim has been made with the credit card company and allow you to state your side. I honestly wouldn't worry about him anymore until you hear something from eBay itself about the dispute... until that happens hes all talk!

When I can't find a measuring tape, I use a box that I know the measurements for and just hold it up next to the item. Pretty accurate.

Had my first return recently. Bought item, broke item, says i didn't describe it as broken and claims not as described. Im out 90 bucks and 2x shipping....love it! Not as described...

The delivery scan will show the weight when it was delivered. An empty box will weigh a lot less than a box with tools in it. You should have that information ready as proof of delivery for when the credit card co contacts you.

Maybe you should try out a new system, just to make things 'fresh and interesting '. Why not buy for one week, then list and sell the next? And alternate between doing both. Inbetween you go the the Post Office to mail out all the sales and any other 'errands' you need to attend to. Like I say, just for a variety in your life! 😁 PS, You never know??

Almost had the same situation. Lady purchase glass bowl with lid and she said the lid was broke when arrived. I asked for photos and open a return. She kept going on about how i purposely sent a broken item. I kept telling her i am happy to help her, just open a return. She refused to send photos or to open a return. Now she leaves a negative comment saying i was unwilling to help her and only wanted to scam her...unreal

Sounds like that guy knows the system and is taking advantage, him sending those messages after he got his refund however is just adding insult to injury. Report him to eBay so this type of activity gets tracked on his Account. Also I had a similar situation happen to me on eBay where someone opened up an item not received case in the morning and by evening it was closed by eBay because they said the buyer also opened up a dispute case with their credit card company. There was delivery confirmation and everything. I think this is eBay automatically closing out the eBay dispute case after they get notice that buyer has also opened up a credit card dispute. Case was technically decided in your favor/your not at fault so I think eBay automatically blocks negative feedback the buyer may try to leave. Good move on blocking him as a future buyer however to block any future dealings with him.

What's funny is when Dave said "Capital One" I was just logging into my Capital One account.

Keep an eye on the fees that eBay is charging you though with that payment dispute. The only time I've had to deal with that, eBay charged me a $25 fee because the buyer opened a payment dispute. I was able to call them and get that refunded as a "one-time courtesy."

Look at his feedback given. My guess is he has a history of this. I had one that claimed a book was in bad shape and threatened to leave negative feedback. I told him I would do a return and he went ballistic. Looked at his feedback and and he had 47 negatives given in 6 months. All almost all identical.

Honestly do not let guy get away with it, the beauty is weight. You have proof of how much it weighed when you shipped, and po does check. What does the guys feedback look like?

I got people trying to scam me all the time. If it was something that I truly screwed up, then yes, I will take care of them. But when I get a return request on a 10 dollar item, I know they are just looking for a free item. I accept the return but they have to pay the shipping. I never hear back from them again.

David I highly recommend you report that buyer to ebay. ebay should know he is obviously a scammer. To protect yourself and future sellers. It is just crazy what the buyer is trying to get away with, ebay would have to side with you.

I thought people have contacted the USPS for these "Empty Box" claims because the USPS verifies the weight along the way and can verify what the item weighed at the last weigh point.

I’m like you - I would want to prove to him that he is wrong. I would send him a copy of the pic he sent you and a screenshot from the video showing that it’s not even the same case. Also send him a link to the video. Finally show him that USPS shows the weight and it is certainly more than an empty box. And remind him that you opened a case with USPS!

If you offered a refund Ebay will have your back if you are a top rated seller. They will remove the feedback most likely as it has happened to me. They read the messages so just send them screen shots to clarify. I have ADHD too. Today I am having a day like you did in this video! That is extortion BTW and a that is breaking Ebay policy.
