How is it different from sensors?

Sensors are inputs to controller & it provides electrical signal to controller.but actuators are connected as output devices and are used to convert an electrical signal into action/rotation/movement

@@plctechworld in car when cng or gas is reduced by driving the car....and we receive signal on the board like in triangular shape....here what is sensor and what is actuator? For feedback...Giving us Examples is convenient way to learn.
