“What is African psychology?” This short video was made from a series of 10 short clips recorded at the 1st Pan-African Psychology Union Congress held in Durban, South Africa, September 2017. The series is a project of the Trans-disciplinary Psychology Programme at UNISA’s Institute for Social and Health Sciences and the Violence, Injury and Peace Research Unit at the South African Medical Research Council. The producers asked one question only: “What is African psychology?” We have our favourite answer (hint - African Psychology does not discard Eurocentric Psychology), which expresses what we understand African Psychology to be. However, what this video shows is that there are diverse views on African Psychology. That is a good thing!
