I want to mention something when we where kids people told us Hindi is our mother tongue but so we really connected with it then we were forced to adapt to English cos again people told us that English is a sort of international (Formal, more social, moral and universal) so we learn that or try to learn that and during teenage we socialize with people with hindi and a hint of English in it so that you connect with them at a personal and professional level. Thats how it was to me and i hope sone of others will understand that too.

Happens a lot when you have official languages, mother-tongue languages and/or lingua franca (usually a creole/pidgin language) all different from one another. I come from Cameroon in West Africa, and we may even move between languages during the same conversation. Just started following your channel, and I've enjoyed your reaction videos. In India we have a language system where a student has to learn english as 1st language, Hindi as 2nd language and the language of local state as 3rd language. Preferance may change(1st,2nd,3rd).some take up Sanskrit as an option too. We need to pass in 3 languages till 10th class. Later in 2 languages till graduation. So English and Hindi (and local language)is used spontaneously. We dont even blink while shifting from one language to other. (Hinglish)

Hey guys!! Your reactions are really awesome. Well since you mentioned in this video that you are gonna watch this movie i just wanted to give you an insight of the mentality of people here in India. When i decided to do my UG in an arts and science university most people mocked me saying that I'm going nowhere in life only because i didn't choose engineering. Well that's the mind block in most parent's minds which are also fed into those of their children's. Fortunately my parents let me do what i wanted to and today I'm happy with my decision. This movie revolves around such kind of incidents and hence making it much relative to the education system and the thought processes of every parent's and student's mind. Have fun watching the movie guys. Waiting for your stupid but "from the heart" reaction for this movie. Thank you for your reading through this.

I think it is safe to assume, that a lot of Indians are like that! I am an arts graduate too, and I faced a lot of snide remarks from extended family and friends about it initially. More than resistance it is the judgement, "If she is in arts she must be dumb".

this scene reminds me of the my year 12 in 2006 when i was summoned to the principal's office because I didn't write down all my answers and definitions in a notebook which I was supposed to recite and rewrite in my final exams, but me being stubborn I argued with my Principal that I dont believe in that concept and I would write my own answers in my own language, finally the principal asked me to sign a letter which said the school doesnt stand responsible if i fail my board exams, which I didn't and now I have 2 schools of my own which I started myself.

Your question is damn in point. In India ... There is a huge shift going on from hindi to english. Naturally now people have started mixing them and something new we all call it HINGLISH. In our common conversation in every 20 words , already 5 words we have absorbed as if they are hindi words. Weird .but fun change happening.

We in general speak a combination of our regional languages combined with english. That's the common dialect. Like in a lot of parts people speak hindi mixed with english so we call it hinglish. So the language switch is a representation of that and also most major universities teach in english and we write exams in english.
