I’m 30 years old and only last year discovered I had a passion for IT but that put me in a position where I feel the need to rapidly learn all I can and as someone with crippling ADHD this is literally the perfect pacing and incremental information delivery. It doesn’t drone on or over clutter your brain with unnecessarily long explanations or excessive information, plus he understands the fundamental need for coffee.

I recently found your channel and been watching your videos about networking and setting up VMs to learn more about newer technologies. Since then I've setup a virtual network with some routers running BGP and OSPF, Nowadays I mostly do network automation for Cisco ACI, load balancers, and DNS servers, but I still remember the days of designing and building networks. The VMs give me the opportunity to brush up on my networking skills. Thanks for the great videos on showing how to set up the VMs. I saw this video this morning and have a few comments: - kudos for covering the base zero indexing used by lists - for some people, base 0 indexing is a hard concept to grasp. Also showing how to get items at the end of the list is something everyone needs to know. You might want to mention about length property of a list. A goog example would be knowing before getting to the 10-items or less check-out counter that you have no more than 10 items. - The statement about arrays not being able to store different types of data (numbers, strings, lists, etc.) is not true in Python. Because Python is not a strongly typed language, arrays (i.e. lists) can hold any type of data you choose to place in it. ary = [] ary.append( 10 ) ary.append( { "x": 10, "b": True } ) ary.append( True ) ary.append( [] ) ary.append( (1,2) ) print(ary) - It is not a good practice to mix data types in an array - either you need a great memory to remember what data type is at each index, or you have to document it to the N-th degree so some other developer who comes along will understand the different data types in the list. - A dictionary is a better choice for storing different data types in a single variable. With a dictionary, order is no longer important and you can access each different type of data using a property name instead of an index when using a list. Using a dictionary to hold the "camp_site" information is a better choice than using a list. It is easier to use the property names like "siteName" or "temperature" when referencing the data in the "camp_site" variable instead of having to remember the camp site name is at index 0 or the temperature is at index 3. camp_site = { "siteName": "Crystal Lake", "siteNumber": 404, "temperatue": 89.3, "isDangerous": True } - to demonstrate more of the usefulness of lists in programming, show viewers how to convert the original string of camping stuff into a list using the split() method of a string. camping_list = camping_stuff.split( /\, / ) there will be instances when having to deal with string data read in from a file and convert to a list. - hopefully you will produce a following video diving deeper into lists showing the power of the map() and filter() methods of lists when writing Python scripts - one last item - keep up the good work - explaining programming concepts to people who are just starting out is a difficult task, but you've provided some good examples and easy to understand explanations, judging by the comments below, and I agree completely.

it's taken me 2 days to get this far with this course where there's a 12 hour video I started the other day and it took me 2 days to learn things such as data types. With you in the same time I'm solving problems and figuring out how to complete your challenges at the end of episodes without help. You're EXTREMELY helpful and engaging and your teaching style, as well as your personality just clicks with me. Very well done! Only one question though..... Why is Ben evil???

I hate the style. Video is twice as long as it needs to be.

Hey Chuck, if you want people to like you. Just be yourself, if you try to fake yourself. You are going to cause people to reject you because people can see through it and it makes you come off deceptive. Your true self is your best self man. Keep up the good work 👍
