I’m below the medium, I’m 26 and earn 1800 a month before tax and 1500 after, but it’s the best paid job I’ve had ( I’m from Yorkshire) but I’m looking to move jobs soon so hopefully be able to find a job that pays extra

Ok. So I work in insurance and specifically in working out salaries and benchmarking them. I’m paid 3 times the average London Salary… but, in my line of work in the insurance industry the salary in the 60th percentile is closer to almost 10k a month before tax. Keep in mind that I am in HR which is not even where the decent money is. So yep, finance and insurance is where your bucks are at kids.

No, if you are doing *more* than £2,260 then you are doing more than the average. But this is a fallacy!!! It would equate to £2,260x12=£27,120 a year, which means that ~50% of all PAYE salaries are LESS THAN £27k. This is a VERY worrying statistic. You shouldn't be focused on MORE but how many are earning less, because this figure should be going up as it is extremely low.

Why do British citizens accept these kind of wages? It’s clear that with inflation and inflation even with jobs requiring skills the wages are still suppressed ? On the other side of the Atlantic and in Western Europe countries the wages are most higher ! Yes some of those countries the tax is higher but atleast their public services are not on the brink of collapse!

All these salaries are terrible. I am apparently in the top 1%, but I don't consider myself rich. Im reluctant to eat out, go on holidays abroad, and do not drive new cars despite earning over £200k per year. However, everybody else is driving new cars and appear to be spending their last penny to go on holiday abroad each year.

I was really surprised with Leicester, it's a decent city and should have higher averages than that, it's a bit shocking really. What is surprising is how much the salaries haven't really moved in the last 10 years and also there's not really much between the age ranges after 25. The age most men peak financially tends to be in their 40's, but the graph shows they're actually closer to their 25-30 year old counterparts than perhaps they should be.
