i think the issue with these lesson vod uploads, as ive watched a lot in the past week, is that most including this player, do not know what you're talking about. they have a fundamental lack of understanding of the game that is so much more problematic for them than "Oh, shine would have lead to a better punish than F tilt, Oh, sh nair was very unsafe in that situation." theyre almost always players who are playing in a total state of chaos and panic with little to no idea of what is actually happening in the game, where competitive 1v1 game theory even starts, or what their opponent wants or is doing/did 5 seconds ago. I don't know how to address this, I don't know what else could be done differently in these lessons, but every time I hear a coach ask 'so why do you think x happened there?' and the player says something like 'i dont know i think just autopilot and like my techskill because something something', and then their take away is 'oh ok laser more', do you not feel a bit hopeless for them?

Yes exactly, laser is the disjoint of the sword and shine is grab The equivalent of a marth getting a tipper fair into grab is falco approaching laser into shine, relatively safe way to confirm into a big combo starter For sure lasering and shining more is a good idea, although I'm sure you're already incorporating those into your gameplay

This is a really good session, not surprised hes able to give great falco advice considering hes playing mango so much On the centering gameplan on shine thing, shine is probably falcos best combo starter, and you should for sure be using it a lot more often, literally just spam it on people. Using dtilt if they are too far in front for shine to connect, or uptilt when too far behind, can be good alternatives to start a combo, but shine is generally the best available since its fast, you can wavedash out of it for quick conversions, and it sends perfect for combos (unless they sdi). Going for ftilt or grab should be pretty infrequent, moreso to punish people who hold sheild too much and to force an opponent offstage (fthrow) or clip a recovery (down angle ftilt, dsmash). Using these as openers is generally inadvisable since 90% of the time you wont be able to convert off of dthrow, upthrow, fthrow, or ftilt. Those options should almost never me used as an attempt to start a combo, dtilt and uptilt are better but not always the best due to how they send and their relatively slowness, while shine is a solid combo starter, can be linked off laser, nair, dair, weak bair, and falling upair, as well as itself for platform chasing, and its fast as fuck boiii

With your expressions to what he says about gameplans at the start it's funny knowing he's def gonna have to change the topic off gameplans real quick lol. Definitly need to work on making less blunders and knowing what beats what and where a punish is guaranteed on reaction instead of abstract higher level "gameplan". As he said for now you need more speed and acting faster when you have actionable frames, and doing more mixups (don't always laser->aerial) and breaking bad habits which is obviously easier said than done. Coaching is great for pointing these things out though. Also great and simple editing btw
