Judging from the Chris Cross character looking like the stereo typical black disco caricature pulled right from the 70's, the creators have to be from my generation. I even feel that the fact that they made his fighting style karate might be a subtle reference to Hai Karate cologne (I may be reading too much into that one though).

As cheesy and half-baked as this show seems, I actually don't hate it? Like as it is, I'm just happy that a Muslim character is being represented as a hero with minimal stereotyping in comparison to the other main characters.

Honestly the biggest thing that confuses me is that they chose Hinduism as one of the four even though it is not of Abrahamic roots (a part of me thinks that there was an incorporation of Jesus as an incarnation of a different God but I forget if that's the case.) Honestly it would have been interesting if one represented Eastern Orthadoxy and the other Catholicism or something.

@@miguelatkinson perhaps. But I feel like they could have done eastern orthodox without changing many aspects of her character. Its just kinda a conflict to the premise. Besides, I tend to find the diversity within different sects of Christianity interesting. Of course this show wouldn't really explore that but it would have just made more sense than to have someone from a religion which just isn't from the same core roots of the others.

@@mossmeow that is likely the case. But given the differences between catholicism and Eastern orthodoxy (or protestantism to a lesser extent) the solution seems obvious to me rather than shoehorn something else.

Those animated horses were artifacts. These scientist guys were definitely blue control players.

I believe it depends on what branch of hinduism(they prob did not think that far) but the one belief system most forms of hinduism practice is henotheism or henotheistic(dont know which one fits best in this case) which means that while they believe in one true god(Brahman) they still accept and recognize other deities that exist in hinduism. Mainly cus those same forms of hinduism usually believe that the gods are just different faces of Brahman

Okay, but technically Christianity is the one Abrahamic religion that has a similar "this is all one God, but he takes three different incarnations, the two others being the extension of the original" which weirdly puts Christianity at a sort of in-between point between Hinduism and Judaism + Islam.

This show feels like one of those parody shows that plays in GTAV lol

Watching this early in the morning before my coffee kicks in and I'm still half asleep made this seem like a hilarious fever dream. Wow.

I think this show is best described as "mostly Harmless" 🤣

So Dogma is using a 1985-era Commodore 64, disk drive, and CRT monitor. This will not go over well with the retro crowd.

This feels like a War Crime in at least 3 countries. I'm not sure which ones, but it feels like that.

This might actually be one of those animation projects that are straight up money laundering. They definitely do exist.

I was kind of hoping for an awkward scene where they try to find a place to eat that is kosher, halal, and doesn't serve cow, pig, shrimp, or any other forbidden delicacies.

To be honest.... it's not universally awful, or hate-laden. "Ninjew" sounds like something straight out of South Park, and I'm 98% convinced this is some kind of pjss-take... The creators should be thanked for not subjecting us to more the same old same old.

A group of stereotypes use the power of God and Anime to fight aliens and save the whales. Not what i was expecting, but it certainly left an impression.

You know when you have high fever and lay under thick blanket and see colors? That's this show's energy

I'm quite aggressively atheistic and even I'm offended by the insinuation that Hinduism is in anyway part of the Abrahamic religions, or monotheistic. They can't make it more racist even if they tried.

@@miguelatkinson Googled "monotheistic hinduism" and here's what I got from Cambridge University: "Even monotheistic Hinduism reveres many gods". Now, certainly, there are many definitions to words, but to my knowledge if a monotheistic religion acnowledges multiple gods, it by definition is no longer monotheistic. But Cambridge seems to classify them as monotheistic, so who am I to argue? Still gonna be pretty incompatible with Abrahamic religions.

Why do I get the impression that a plot twist with Ninjew's character later in the series will be that he's part reptilian, but his friends will still accept him anyway.

Every time any character in this show says something the vine boom plays in my head.

That watch was so painful, but at the same time I don't hate it. It feels like the show is trying to be inclusive and progressive but it's kinda approaching it in a bad way. Or maybe this is intentional and they wanted to make it like a 90s cartoon cringe. I dunno. Maybe an interview will clear it up.

I can’t tell if this is sarcasm or serious. I mean scientists are the enemies of the religious, every character is a horrible stereotype, and they have a Hindu as a main character even though they believe in many gods. This is like the worst fan fiction ever 😊.

I feel it is better described as polytheistic as while all the gods share a common source, they all function as separate beings, thus functionally making it polytheistic. It’s like seeing Hellenism as monotheistic because all of the gods can be traced back to Chaos (I know Hellenism has monotheistic branches, but still).
