That head on the chopper is just a standard corn head for grain ? Was that HMGEC being run through the kernel processor of the chopper? What was the average moisture on what you harvested?

Yes, this is a regular snapper head off a combine. We generally shoot for around 35-40% moisture. As far as I know it is running through the KP. I will have to ask.

So do you leave the stocks on the ground or will you bale them?

We go back and chop up the stalks and then once they are dry we rake them together and bale them for bedding.

Would the stalks not make decent silage, they look like they have a fair amount of moisture still?

@@Freefarmer533 Yes, they would make good silage, but the point is to get a high energy ingredient for our rations. With the stalks removed from the product, we have a higher energy concentration in the product. We do chop corn silage also, and that is also part of our ration.

What model header is that - looking to do the same

Hmm. Not sure. It is an other header, but I will have to ask our custom guys what the model is.
