The implication tends to be that the Ethics Committee weren't established in the cannon with Iris - i believe it wasn't even mentioned once when the article was written, but I could be wrong.

Remember there's no one true canon. The SCP at it's core is defined by which entries you accept. For me the foundation is a lie, a unnecessary evil for sake of upholding a hollow facade or normalcy. I don't think the foundation as right to mess with memories and imprison people. But other scp coud appoint a series of entries and make a valid argument that the foundation are actually tragic heroes doing the most good they with the hand they are dealt, guarding humanity from fates worse than death; only causing suffering that is necessary. These what i call encroaching Divinity canon: where the normalcy protects humanity from being ruled by deity, and scps are broken fragments of divinity. There the ' we are the source ' canon, where the anomalies are born from humans, and a broken normalcy would lead a cacophony of anomalous activity. Then there's the ol; the foundation just despise the supernatural; and that's it. These are all equally valid, and you can come with your owns canons. I have six major ones.

@@indulgencerofindulgence5970 yep there are just some entries that if you accept as canon paint the SCP as the bad guys child eating tree house being a great example. you have to pick and choose which stories to focus on and pick your own narrative because of how discordant and broad the whole thing is.

Iris is one of the saddest SCP stories. I also always wondered if she was stronger, but the camera is holding her back? She has all the symptoms of being a reality bender, I feel.

She lost the ability to naturally discover her power on her own, which for all we know might be intrinsic to developing her powers. The foundation might be thinking too small in her case- sure, having live video feed of any place a camera has taken a picture of is already incredibly powerful, why tamper with a good thing? As it stands I think she qualifies as a reality-bender as it is anyhow, albeit a weak one.

I feel so bad for her. This is definitely one of the saddest SCP's

The foundation did another very inhumane thing in order to let her re-demonstrate her powers after she claimed she had lost them. They ordered her colleague and friend in omega-7 to shoot himself in front of her, and she could only save him by removing the pin of the pistol inside the picture. I highly recommend checking out the book "SCP Foundation: Iris Through the Looking Glass" by Hifumi Shobo, which is based on SCP-105. Rather than from the point of view of researchers and scientists, the story is from the point of view of a boy who gets dragged into the SCP foundation by Iris from one of her photos.

@@DragmaWanderer That would be a security risk the foundation will probably not allow. She'd need to find a way to expand the pictures herself, or perhaps stitch them together. As her portals seem to be very flexible as long as it is within what the picture shows it would not be too far fetched to believe she could conjure a bigger portal in the same space if two pictures both show the same image only taken from a different perspective.

Or perhaps if she were to have a very clear image of something in her head like a photographic memory because she has seen that often enough that it qualifies for her ability and lets her see it inside her head in real time and thus project in front of her as she wills it like an imaginary friend/imaginary picture that is big enough to walk through then it'd be possible. But I guess that would require a great deal of effort for someone without such a memory and that would basically turn her into a character from the movie "Jumper" if she were to master such an ability. And a very fucking terrifying one considering she might have a very very good and clear image of a lot of containment cells in her head or even more terrifyingly images of certain scp. She'd be a multi level containment risk at that point.

Yea, she's a good kid. Jerks are really doing wrong with her. Hay, do her and I a favor please. They won't let me near their bases, not that I like it either... But, can't check for her with out getting close. She's not really at site 17, I checked. Took a week to regenerate after that one, and months for most of the MTFs to get tasked with something other than me... Any way, is you find out where they are holding her, or the water spirit, let me know please. Be worth having to regenerate from a pulp a few times to maybe help them out a bit. Thanks.

The orange shirt reads "D-??????"_ It seems all SCP-105 desires is to be exonerated for the death of her late boyfriend, and to have his real murderer identified and made into a class D personnel. Something not impossible for the foundation to achieve. Hang in there Iris Thompson, you might actually get your wish.

like when SCP 166 was possibly just an ultra hot girrl so pretty classified it as an SCP but then ethics commity amde them toss her out and trepalce 166 with the teenage gia basicaly young version of old man 1440.

Iris can actually so something similar to a high res image on a computer screen, but has much better control with pictures from her camera. In the Resurrection canon (the current "main" canon) Iris is Agent Thompson in charge of her own team (part of an MTF) and she decides how she uses her power. She does not like the Foundation, but also realizes that most other groups would treat her worse or flat out kill her. Also the Foundation *is* trying to treat her better. sm

I love the content, it must stressing to make about 3-4 video's a Day, animate Them, do research for the video's, i love the content from all the 3 channels. Keep it up. These explanations also help me avoid the scp foundation, thank you for it

I know this is an old comment but I actually have a (kind of) answer! Testing with the desire camera, even just taking a photo of her with it, has been forbidden by the 05 due to the high risk! Very interesting to wonder about if she did ever get the chance though

Youd either get a higher quality costume or something horrible would happen like having the costume fused to you like a second layer of skin. I dont think the the machine takes two objects and combines them into a similar item, it just "improves" upon what it has, like you cant toss a furry suit and a human in there and hope to spit out an anthropomorphic animal. But im not an expert on the machine by any means.

I'm so glad you did Iris. She's definitely one of my favorite SCP's

I honestly feel bad for her, not only because she's forced to never live a normal life but also because of the shit she went through with helping able.

Iris's situation doesn't improve, by the way. Not unless you take Project Isorropia to be canon. If you're curious as to how, just keep in mind it's strongly implied "Lily Veselka" from SCP-3002 isn't the anomaly's real name.

I just read up on scp 3002. If you're implying that Lily is actually Iris, that connection definitely seems possible. I found an archived file of scp 3002 (while trying to find more information on project Lethe) that mentions her not responding to her previous name or designation (possibly Iris and scp 105 respectively?), as well as mentioning allowing her to engage in hobbies she enjoys, such as photography.....what did they do to that poor girl? Is there any more information on project lethe? I can find very little.

One of the saddest SCP's out there I can’t understand why they treat such an innocent girl so harshly I thought they were mostly the good guys but now I know what the SCP foundations true motives were just heartless monsters that care not for who they destroy!

Read this awhile back and I really feel bad for Iris ngl. Great video though and entry.

Imagine a show set in a school with all school-age SCPs, even if they don't interact in other canons.

I have been waiting for this one as she is one of my favorite anomalies and I think that with the making of this video brings us one step closer into seeing an animated tale of the Resurrection storyline.

The only issue I have with the Iris SCP, it's that there was never any evidence shown that she was actually at the crime scene. shrug.

If y’all like Iris read all the tales from the Resurrection canon. She has a prominent role in the story and she’s such a badass you can’t not love her. She’s vulnerable, strong and most importantly HUMAN but is treated as a skip. Eventually even the 05’s start to see her worth though so I highly recommend it

Unlike other SCP stories, this one triggered me not because of the monsters, but how “real” the emotions are. We kept seeing the SCP Foundation as a hero, but like all heroes, they are not perfect, even the hero that prevented mass extinction for countless times…

You can tell its one of the earlier SCPs because the Foundation is much more cold and cruel in those ones. It's probably one of the reasons groups like the Chaos Insurgency had to be invented; so the Foundation isn't just evil.

This has always been my favorite scp

Don't most newer SCP entries now have slightly more humane treatment for humanoid SCP's? Most of the asshole treatments for older SCP's aren't so much in fashion anymore; the SCP is supposed to try and keep them reasonably comfortable. People need exercise and sunlight, and interaction with other beings, besides proper nutrition and ways to fill their time, in exchange for good behavior. Also what the hell were they thinking, trying to get her to assassinate others without....well, conditioning her to be an assassin first? She's a normal, bright teen girl, not a killer.

I'm the opposite: I fully support the UNGOC, especially after they reformed to just targeting anomalies that pose an active threat to people. Also, I believe they deserve the term "Exterminators" rather than "Bookburners", whatever that one means.

Why does the foundation not make her take pictures of all scp's, the ability could allow them to easily follow where escaped scp's go to. She might also be able to interact with Cassie like no other could.

Sounds like the ethics committee hadn't been founded yet.
