Caiman turtles are the complete opposite of most turtles you've ever known! The thing is, caimans, like snapping turtles, are true predators, which can be likened to a crocodile in a shell!
We once released a large caiman turtle into a lake far outside the city, which has sparked many debates in the comments. Did we do the right thing? I knew that turtles could survive in our environment because they can hibernate in an icy lake, burying themselves in mud and even breathe through their skin, obtaining oxygen while in a state of suspended animation!

My daughter has a red eared slider turtle she got 10 years ago. The turtle is now very big and will devour live fish placed in her tank
