What If You Lived In a Closed Biosphere?
Ғылым және технология
Get more insightful information about living in a biosphere with Jane Poynter: • Discussed: What If You...
What if we took everything that sustains life on this planet, and shrunk it down to one small bubble? Earth's biosphere stretches about 20 km (12 mi). From the deep-sea vents in the ocean into the atmosphere. This is where almost all life exists. If we ever want to live in space, or settle Mars, we will have to recreate this extremely complex system. What would you eat? Would you have garbage? What would be the biggest threat to your health?

I visited " biosphere 2 " about 5 years ago and was impressed by the complexity of the place. Its not just a greenhouse but a whole array of pumps, expansion chambers, and plants (lots and lots of plants). If any of these goes wrong the results could be fatal if you're on the moon or Mars. I feel that experiments like these are essential if we are ever going to live off planet.

My guess that the biggest reason for the failure of Biosphere 2 was lacking a large source of water(ie not a river but an ocean). Oceans help in regulating the climate and produces much more oxygen than the terrestrial trees.

"Why Spend Billions On Mars Why Not Spend The Billions To Recover Earth"
@yash1756
3 жыл бұрын
Because eventually, one day we will have to leave Earth. Even if we stop all our plans and start focusing on Earth, we do not know when an asteroid from interstellar space decides to visit Earth or when due to Gamma Ray bursts, we go extinct. There are infinite different possibilities of us dying any second and so, we need to go out of this planet, we need to explore the universe, or we will be mass extincted, if not today than after 1000 years.
@unmutedbynature9779
3 жыл бұрын
@@yash1756 But there may also be 'n' number of problems pertaining to Mars we don't know about. Thus spending billions on Mars Project and then we may realise nothing happens and problems arise...It would be rather advantageous to try recovering Earth. Thus I agree with @Emelita Aldave

@@unmutedbynature9779 we had too little space in earth and we wont make it colonizing mars in time. Earth is over populated and our constant agriculture to feed people have degradated the soil so much without the GMO and agriculture moving to mountains, we would have a extinction event today

I wonder what if the biosphere could be made of the strongest metal in the universe?
This reminded me from a episode of "the zula patrol" probably none of ya know that show but I still remember it.
They should use Aeroponics or Vertical Gardening in Biosphere's to help take up less space. Just an idea :3
Now this is interesting
Highly motivated to live in the same😁
I successful biosphere would need specialists in many fields , plus regular people to do the cleaning, agriculture, taking care of the animals, as well as people naturally entertaining to defuse the conflicts and keep the peace. Would probably need to be a lot bigger than their thinking. Have shifts working around the clock and not giving up when things started to get bad figure out how to solve them quickly and be ready for similar future failures. 120 people doing a 10 year study inside one.

I think the water was the reason made biosphere fail. Too much water was the problem. Use less water to reduce vapor and don't t take shower but only dry clean and use zero waste toilet and also use electrical cook to reduce oxygen depletion, use water vapor for tree live and not water. Dried by using electric dried or roasted all waste before put it back into compost
