What If We Relocated Humanity to Proxima B?

Ғылым және технология

Even though humanity might not have to leave the Earth in your lifetime, we should start preparing early on. Not only could it take centuries to set up the relocation program, it would take generations to move to a potential new home. That right there is Proxima Centauri b, or just Proxima b. It's the closest potentially habitable planet out there, its temperatures are in the bearable range, and it could just have the right breathable atmosphere. We only have to get there. How long would our journey last?

it may have been possible, super flares or whatever theyre called happen on stars like proxima centauri and they destroy all life and evaporate all oceans. if we lived there we probably came up with a way to predict when they happen and prepared for such an event. we probably launched something at earth to destroy life forms that could kill us (like dinosaurs) and later moved to earth.

@@lauragodridge8966 Nah this will actually happen. He just personified it and turned it into a lil skit, although we probably wouldn't be on Earth anymore at that point and you can interpret that in anyway you want. In 3-4 billion years the hydrogen that the Sun fuses into helium for energy using its gravity will be depleted, so to maintain its life it will start fusing its remaining helium into heavier elements, then those elements into even heavier ones, until it fuses them into iron. It can't fuse iron further, so when the iron in its core reaches a critical mass it dies, exploding and frying the remaining planets before ejecting them into space. But before this the Sun expands as it grows older, so just 600 million years from now it will have expanded to the point where Earth becomes uninhabitable and everything left there dies. In a few billion years it will expand to swallow the orbits of Mercury, Venus, and Earth and liquify Mars. The reason the humans start talking about K stars instead of a G star like our Sun here is because those are smaller stars with lower gravities, which means they fuse energy slower and thus expand less and live longer, so they're a lot more habitable for a lot longer.

  • @michaelcleveland5078

The trouble is, travel at even a small percentage of light speed will kill you. Space is not empty. Dust particles may be widely scattered, but at even moderate percentages of c, the rate of impact would not only erode the ship out from under you, but kill you with the resulting high energy radiation. Shielding will erode too, and presents the added problem of additional mass to move. Travel at light speed is impossible even if you could work out a way to achieve the velocity.

@@mishkosimonovski23 "Let's say" says it all. You have an imagination for sci-fi, but there is nothing in Physics that points toward the possibility of any such material and, in fact, much that precludes it. Massless construction material is an oxymoron, and while the cone shape may deflect material toward a desired point, its shape will not keep matter from impacting and eroding the cone's surfaces. At some point in the process, there is an erosive impact. You also overlook the problem of particle interaction with anyone inside the ship. Everything is dopplered to a higher energy level, greater the faster you go. Shielding adds mass, which compounds the problem. Besides, 50% c gives you little advantage from time dilation. You have to achieve speeds on the order of 90% c to see any useful slowing of your clock. Travel at any significant percentage of light speed is not possible even if you had the propulsion.

I like that when he speaks on these topics that he keeps using “Lost In Space “ , footage. I wish he’d use “Another Life” footage as well. Both are fictional Netflix shows that uses all the tech he refers to in this videos, that science is just figuring out. But yet, Netflix had it in their shows years prior, I mean sometimes it’s even down to the names! For example is saw another one of either this series, or riddle(I think it was riddle) where. Science had just come up with a way to to make shuttles and satellites move without fuel. They came up wit this “solar sail” , where they use this super thin material to create a sail that would move the shuttle via solar waves. In the show “Another Life”, Captain Niko is stranded in deep, deep space after saving her crew by sending them through a worm hole. Throughout the Series niko is known for constantly coming up with crazy ways to save the day. So this time when she thinks her luc has finally run out, she had this last minute idea to get her heading to earth even tho she has no more fuel. She comes up wit the idea to repurpose this special material that was used for something in the ship, it was supposed to be super strong, and super thin, and could withstand solar flares and radiation. She would create a “solar sail” out of this golden material, that could capture the solar waves, and get her home.... I rarely accept coincidence as a factor, and it’s very hard to agree with that sentiment here. Even if the news, and show aired simultaneously, how tf could NETFLIX WRITERS, be the first to know about NASAs latest discovery? Y’all keep being shocced by the simpsons, but fail to realize most of your favorite shows are involved with “predictive programming”. I mean watch a Star Trek episode from the 60s, and see how much modern tech they’re using. It’s either our scientists, engineers, inventors are literally stealing the imaginative ideas of creatives past, or the creatives today and past are privy to info us regular folks are not (Whether it be because of how they’re raised, morals, values, culture that urges them to expose certain info. or it’s due to govt agenda. Either or.... it’s no other way I can fathom right now. It’s no coincidence that so much info from Tech, to disasters, to terror attacs are put into mass media years before their occurrence in reality. I mean literally, all you have to do is pay attention, and you will see for real.🤷🏾‍♂️

Maybe the voyagers are on their way and some 500-1000 years later they get visited by another spaceship from earth, with advanced tech, that could take them to proxima b in much less time.

It would most likely be more efficient of getting there if we can launch these space crafts outside of Earth, meaning that a space port will be needed for this project. I do hope it could theoretically travel at least 10% the speed of light in take will make it a 45 or so years to cover the distance of 4.25 light years.

Hi!! I really like your videos. I would really love to watch videos on these topics. 1. What if dark matter and dark energy were not there? 2.What if time started moving backwards? 3.What if we grew from old to infant? 4.What if all planets moved counter clockwise? Or every planet moved clockwise? 5. What if earth captured the passing asteroid or comet in its gravity and caught another natural satellite? Will it affect the tides on earth? If it's a asteroid, could we find information about formation of solar system? 6.What if future generations came in today's world to change the past? 7.What if every planet had life possible? How would this affect evolution of species on earth? 8.What if every planet was in their star's goldilocks zone? 9. What if diamonds rained on earth? How would it affect the life on earth? 10. What if galaxy inside a galaxy was possible? 11.What if all the planets were living creatures? 12. What if our dreams could become reality? 13. What if our nose really got larger by telling lies? 14. What if there was more freshwater than ocean water on earth? 15.What if cartoon characters become a reality ? 16. What if everyone had the same IQ? 17.What if Oort's cloud was present in the earth's orbit or earth was located in Oort's cloud? 18.What if no-one could see colours i.e. everyone was color blind? 19.What if earth was located in asteroid belt? 20.What if we sent robots on intergalaxy missions to unwind the uncertainties of space ? 21.What if we could invent a drawing pencil whose drawings could become real? 22.What if we never fell ill? 23. What if intelligent species on other planets discovered us? 24. What if earth had multiple moons? How will it effect the tides and revolution of earth? 25. What if sound travelled through vaccum and light did not? We would never get sunlight and we could hear astronauts talk on moon through recording. 26. What if universe expanded at a higher rate? Would gravity and other forces be affected? 27. What if every country in the world had the same currency? 28. What if everyone had equal rights in all countries ? Our planet would really become a heaven if corruption was also not there. 29. What if all natural resources were renewable? 30. What if supernova radiation encounter earth? 31. What if sun had variable magnitude from earth equal to that of omicron ceti( Mira)? 32.What if all people on earth were 2 times smaller? 33. What if you were swallowed by Godzilla? 34. What if we found a parallel universe in the dark matter? 35. What if there was no pollution? 36. What if we never evolved into humans?or stayed in the half monkey half human state? 37. What if we could see infrared rays? 38. What if we discovered sun's twin star?( Like beyond the heliopause or heliosphere coz sun's gravity influence is till Oort's cloud) 39. What if Eratosthenes never existed? 40. What if Thea didn't collide with earth during its formation? 41. What if antimatter and matter exchange their places? 42. What if a runaway star encounter our solar system? Would it disturb orbit of all planets? 43. What if we no longer needed food? 44. What if kuiper belt didn't exist? 45. What if we were half human half dinosaur? 46. What if we lost our ability to think suddenly? 47. What if a blazar was located near the earth? 48. What if northern and southern celestial spheres exchanged their places i.e stars visible in northern hemisphere could be visible in southern hemisphere and vice versa? 49. What if neutron star and magnetar entered in binary relationship?(I have studied about binary stars eating up the mass from one another, would it be implied in this situation?) 50. What if we created antimatter? 51. What if proxima centauri was 2x closer to solar system? 52. What if strangelets encounter us?(strangelets are hypothetical strange matter particles produced when two neutron stars collide) 53. What if we bring spoonful of black hole to earth? 54. What if we orbited a black hole? 55. What if we could transform ourselves at our will? 56. What if we all were actually characters of comic world? 57. What if we discovered every species of plant and animal on earth? 58. What if life on earth evolves when universe was less than 10 billion yrs old( maybe we would see ancestors of galaxies and also a much younger sun) 59. What if shape of every planet in the universe was in the shape of donut and from the mass from which many planets are to be formed, combined into one large planet around star in shape of donut? Also a video about Methuselah (star whose age is determined to be even older than universe's calculated age due to an error even we don't know) would be interesting
