    Some refinement is in order now. Rigging the brake shoes to engage the entire pad instead of one end as brakes normally work. Adding more weight to pads and giving them a linear motion should really help. I'm wondering if the diff being locked may help since it's likely transferring one wheel to the other and the clutch set up will handle that duty anyway. Give it one more try.

    @@RubyRhod If you have 5X the mass being flung around at the "floating" end of the brake shoe, you get 5X the pressure being applied to the brake shoe for a given RPM or half the RPMs for about the same torque going through, which means half as much brake pad smoke being generated for a given amount of acceleration or twice as much accelerating before wearing out the pads.

  • @RubyRhod

    @RubyRhod

    Жыл бұрын

    @@teardowndan5364 You are not wrong, but while you increase mass 5 times, you lower rpms that create a certain torque by sqrt(5) or about 2.2 times. So you "only" more than half the heat wasted/generated by the clutch. I would argue you need to lower energy wasted by 10 to 100 times. There is a reason why friction clutches of any type (and I would argue torque converters are in some way also a friction clutch) are meant to go at the highest rpm shaft in the drivetrain - usually directly at the engine.

    No, they made the swinging end leading because they grip better (same as all front drum brakes on cars are leading end opens, not trailing end). To make them bite harder, the pivot bolt on the trailing end needs to be moved closer to the centre of the hub to gain more leverage.

    This is exactly how them old cranes work. The engine drives a pto and the pto drives a big chain and that chain is attached to gears and those gears spin which in turn spin drums and brake pads are inside those drums so when the operator pulls a lever that lever releases hydraulic fluid into a piston into the drum and pushes the brake pad onto the inside of the drum which depending on the operators lever and the force of the piston on the brake pad, the winch line operates. Sometimes when it’s wet you gotta burn the brake pads and inside of the drum causes smoke so the friction catches when you go to pick up a load. On that same drum is another band around the entire drum which is attached to a linkage and then to the operators brake pedal so operator pushes brake pedal, pedal pushes linkage, linkage squeezes brake band and in turn squeezes brake drum stopping the winch line.

    Yes, I had the same problem, video going black, but sound was okay. This was never going to work because the wheel rpm is too low, so the force isn’t enough to push the pads out and engage them decisively, so the end up slipping and heating up. By the time you build up enough speed to sufficiently engage the centrifugal clutch it has over heated and can’t grip properly, similar to brake fade. You’d need at least a 2:1, maybe even 3:1 reduction between the centrifugal clutch and the hubs, to make this work, but that would result in a very high engine rpm and low road speed, unless you had a step up to match, in the driveline. That’s starting to sound like a French car!

    Guys, at around the 10-minute Mark, the screen goes black. You still hear the audio but the video it doesn't exist after the transition.

    Lighter return springs and closer tolerance between pads and hub.

    Dumb idea here but would it be possible to fit a torque converter onto a manual transmission? Kinda like a liquid clutch

    Should make your own belt clutch system that's like in most side by sides or 4 wheelers.

    Can this saturn V run on bio diesel vs a v12 lada using a tank engine found in by backyard

    I think you should install the centrifugal clutch in place of the original clutch, because the gearbox starts with first gear, while the engine's RPM is higher.
