" As CIA documents found in the US National Archives make clear, the EU was a CIA initiative, the purpose of which is to make it easy for Washington to exercise political control over Europe. It is much easier for Washington to control the EU than 28 separate countries. Moreover, if the EU unravels, so likely would NATO, which is the necessary cover for Washington’s aggression." www.paulcraigroberts.org/2016/06/22/brexit-what-is-it-about-paul-craig-roberts/

The money, free movement of people, their laws, their rights, their legislation? Their human rights? Why is it that the Scottish see in the SNP BS about the EU being so much better than the UK? I really don't care any more about Scotland because its blah blah cry blah blah moan! And yet most Scottish voted to stay in Europe? What are we missing here in England? Her country, my country, voted by a clear majority to stay in the UK in 2014 under all circumstances (referenda, world wars, earthquakes, you name it). My vote last week to remain in the EU was purely on a UK basis and not on the basis of analysis as a Scottish stand alone vote. That was my personal vote as a British Citizen and I'll be damned if she tries to use it as propaganda for another independence referendum. The sooner Scotland is rid of this media parasite the better.

The worst thing they ever did was create devolved parliaments. UK is one of the most over-governed nations in the world. If you live in Wales, Northern Ireland or Scotland, you have a local councillor, national MP (depending on which parliament), European MP (before Brexit) and a Westminster MP plus the Lords. Too many bodies for not much return. It doesn't matter which side of the political spectrum you are, it just means more buck passing. Not to mention all the bullshit elected police commissioners or if you live in London you have duplicated local government.

Let's say hypothetically that Scotland breaks away from the UK and the EU let's them rejoin the EU. We have about 3 million EU migrants in the UK who , if they wish to still live in the EU could move to Scotland. Scotland has about 5.5 million people at the moment so potentially their population could nearly double. Any new EU immigrants would go straight to Scotland. When you think about it , it could be absolute chaos.

The United Kingdom is already broken up. Westminster just hasn't realised it yet. The United Kingdom is NOT a union of countries with the country of England the master race devolving English sovereign powers to the other subservient dominion countries of the de facto parliament of England. Factually there has not been a legally elected parliament of England since the last one sat and put itself into permanent recession from 30 April 1707. Yet today only England is ruled and funded directly by the Westminster ministries as, "The United Kingdom". So in effect Westminster is devolving English sovereign powers to Scotland but Scotland's, "Rule of Law", (a.k.a. Legal system), doesn't recognise English law and, "The Kingdom of Scotland", is the only other kingdom that is a legal partner with the Kingdom of England, (two and a bit countries), in the United Kingdom as constituted by, "The Treaty of Union", (1706/7). Which means the, so called, United Kingdom is an illegal scam as is EVEL The United Kingdom simple no longer legally exists and when, not if, it arrives at the international courts then neither Westminster or Elizabet Regina can legally be recognised by any court as both of them are legally representatives of both United Kingdom partner kingdoms and cannot be allowed to choose to represent one partner kingdom against the other.

What uneducated claptrap that is. You obviously don't know either your true history of geography. The UK, it means United Kingdom is legally just what its title says it is, "A United Kingdom", that was constituted by two independent and equally sovereign kingdoms by an international treaty called, "The Treaty of Union", and there are only two signatory kingdoms signature upon that legal document. So, gary63693, how do you explain the current Westminster setup? Westminster now assumes for itself to be the de facto parliament of the COUNTRY of England that hasn't had a legally elected parliament of its own since 30 April 1707. but Westminster became the bipartite United Kingdom parliament on 1 May 1707. So Westminster, acting as if it is the legal Parliament of England now devolves a few almost useless Westminster sovereign powers down to two and a bit subservient English dominions even although the United Kingdom is not a union of countries it is a two kingdom union of Kingdom yet Westminster treats the Kingdom of Scotland as if it were an English subservient dominion. What's more, under The Treaty of Union Westminster is not legally sovereign as the two kingdoms have different, "Rules of Law", (a.k.a. legal systems), and in Scotland the People of Scotland are legally sovereign and not either the crown or the parliaments. Now if you do not believe all that then consider that England is run and financed as, "The United Kingdom", by the Westminster Ministries and what devolution actually does is take English sovereignty powers away from those London Ministries and devolves them to the devolved administrations. However you cannot devolve functions without the cash to finance them so The Barnett Formula, (which seems to be mysterious to politicians and voters alike), is what calculates that finance for devolved functions. Thing is Westminster is not legally the parliament of the country of England. The United Kingdom is not a quadratic union of countries it is a bipartite union of kingdoms and Scotland is a kingdom not a subservient dominion of the country of England. What is more the EVEL Westminster dreamt up claptrap ,is illegal as it rules that no other country can interfere in what Westminster deems to be, "English Only", matters. In short Westminster does not operate as what it legally is and that is why the two partner United Kingdom partnership has not been a proper partnership accotding to the treaty that formed it and The Kingdom of Scotland must eventually legally end it. But remember this - when any bipartite union ends then the legal, "Status Quo Ante!, is that BOTH partners revert to their status help before the union began - there cannot be an rUnited Kingdom after the union ends. Scotland will not be leaving a union of countries The Kingdom od Scotland will be ending the two partner United Kingdom and if you don't know what The Treaty of Union 1706/7 legally is then it is about time you did. I'll put it in stark terms for you. The United Kingdom is a legal agreement between two, equally sovereign, Kingdoms and not either a unified country or a union of countries.

Just as an example, wordy Scot Niall Ferguson has said one important reason for not leaving the EU, though a euroskeptic himself, is that when the UK disengages from Europe, the Europeans get up to bad things (interview on KZread). That doesn't sound like a Scottish reason to dump the UK for the EU, though he would have voted Stay at the time.

It annoys me how Nicola Sturgeon talks about Scotland being taken out of the EU against it's will when the 38% of Scottish Voters was enough for the leave campaign to achieve a marginal victory so she must acknowledge & accept that Scotland did play a crucial part in the brexit result, also if the Yes campaign had won in 2014 Scotland would not only have left the UK but also they would have left the EU anyway cos the sovereignty of a separate Scotland is entirely different from the sovereignty of a UK that includes Scotland so it would be impossible for Scotland to just automatically stay in the EU as a separate country therefore avoiding the process of applying to be in the EU which is a process that can last for years. All this against Scotland’s will rubbish is SNP hypocrisy.

Why should 60 million Britons be impacted- as we all will be, by the separatist agenda of a nationalist party. You may hate Westminster but pushing Scotland into independence now is a walk into the wilderness. The fact is the EU will not simply let Scotland in. She is First Minister of Scotland. Her role is to govern the people of Scotland, not destroy 309 years of British union thus driving a sectarian wedge into both Scotland and the wider UK. She demands respect from David Cameron but has shown no respect to him. What the SNP and their supporters need to accept is that whilst Scotland is a nation, the United Kingdom is a country to which it is a constituent member!

    4 жыл бұрын

Well I have only begun to watch the video and Marr is stuttering attempting to interrupt The First Minister and the First minister is ignoring his rather idiotic attempts and when he does speak he is off on the usual unionist pack of lies. He claims, wrongly, that Scotland will have to join a queue of applicants waiting to be accepted by the EU. Now I'm just a common five eight old octogenarian but I know there is no queue, and never has been a queue to join the EU. What prevents new applicants from almost instant EU membership to the EU is because they do not comply with EU regulations. The whole EU ethos is to unite Europe, why would they make it hard for any applicant that complied with the regulations, (BTW: not laws), to wait in a queue? Now, Scotland, as a part of the United Kingdom, which by the way is legally a bipartite union of, equally sovereign, kingdoms constituted, (note that word), by an international treaty titled, "The Treaty of Union, (1706/7) and when I went to school, over 71 years ago, the word, "K-I-N-G-D-O-M", did not spell country. To the very best of my knowledge that written constitution called, "The Treaty of Union", only had two kingdoms as signatories to the treaty. So the United Kingdom is neither a unified country nor a quadratic union of countries, (or more accurately, three and a bit countries). If indeed that treaty no longer legally constitutes the United Kingdom as per the Treaty of Union then there is no legally constituted United Kingdom. Why are the BBC employing, at great expense, uneducated numpties who don't know their own native language, their own country's history or their own countries geography? Not to mention ignorant of current events? Just as a reminder the EU is not Britain for there are three crown, not Westminster, dependencies and the Republic of Ireland, all parts of Britain but not under Westminster or United Kingdom rule. Which highlights the idiotic term, "Brexit". Britain will not be exiting anything for Britain is a geographic term and, unless some idiot at the Clyde Base makes a bigger mistake than usual, Britain is exiting nothing. So just why is a bipartite union of equally sovereign kingdoms being run as the de facto Parliament of the 'country' of England, lording it over the other two and a bit countries of the United K-I-N-G-D-O-M and treating them all as subservient dominions of the country of England when one of them is The KINGDOM of England's only legally equally sovereign partner kingdom in the United KINGDOM? What is worse is that England has no legal parliament and no one has been legally elected as a member of an English parliament since 30 April 1707 after the last parliament of England sat and put itself into permanent recession. What began on 1 May 1707 was legally the bipartite United KINGDOM in which The Monarch of England was legally Sovereign under English law and that person was, as Monarch of Scots, (not of Scotland was not sovereign for under Scots law the people of Scotland are legally sovereign yet Westminster has the brass neck to devolve some unimportant English sovereign powers down to the devolved administrations while England is administered as The United Kingdom and England is run by the Westminster Ministries and England finances itself with United Kingdom funds as The United Kingdom. Don't even think of what EVEL is but whatever it is it is illegal. Anyone care to prove a single thing I have described as wrong would you please explain why to The Westminster Unionist Establishment.

@James Mcgregor What absolute racist claptrap. First of all those people waiting years for a council house are not sleeping on the streets - they must therefore have accommodation. Those sleeping on the streets are there usually for different reasons and those that are not are legally entitled to be found accommodation by the local councils. You are blethering the usual unionist, racist rubbish. Local councils virtually stopped building council houses many years ago - blame Thatcher for that. It is a matter of record that under the SNP more homes have been built in Scotland. I cannot remember, (cough!), of hand how many the previous Labour government built but it was countable on one hand. Local councils must legally home homeless people even if it is just basic bed and breakfast. So if, as you claim, people have been waiting years they must have accommodation. It may not be to their liking but they are housed. It may not be exactly where they want it but they are accommodated or the council has to legally find a place for them but we will always get some racist, unionist numptie with the anti-foreigner claptrap. It is a matter on record that the immigrants into Scotland more than pay their way and in any case most of them actually come here to a job they already have before they arrive or they come to study and get a job and stay on. These are immigrants not refugees most of who have a far better work ethic than people born in Britain with British parents. You don't get very many Scottish born people harvesting vegetables in the Winter fields of Scotland or picking berries in the Autumn anymore and often those doing the harvesting or shearing sheep or working amid the blood and guts in the slaughterhouses are seasonal migrants. They come for work, spend some of their wages here in Scotland and return home after harvest time.

Why does the average joe have to endure referendum after referendum with all the bullshit just to suit whims? I myself am now fed up of them, instead of the country knuckling down and getting on with things we have all this shit to deal with. And by the way, how exactly would your beloved independent Scotland pay for itself? Last time I checked more money comes from England to pay for your basic services than Scotland sends south.

Auld Bob The largest reason for a Union, is political strength. Arguably Westminster politicians can not lead our Union, I agree mostly that the wrong politicians are on the front bench. I don’t see the Union as precious, so don’t put words in people’s mouths. Nicola Sturgeon is at times is an absolute laughing stock, but mostly she’s just an earache. Do you really want a politician that can’t respect a vote that she herself campaigned as a once in a lifetime vote? I wouldn’t. She cannot respect a vote that she instigated, and instead of seeking to aid the government she serves at this tough period in time, she seeks to rip apart the Union. I could never vote for a party that shows such disloyalty, and disrespect to her fellow Islanders and politicians.

It’s funny, she can’t respect a vote that she herself brought around so instead she cries like whimpering child, claiming she needs another vote. She’s not only a disgrace to her own word, but a disgrace to Scottish politics. So, if a whole campaign is based on a ‘once in a generation vote’, she has mislead her general public.

Because Scotland's King James VI became James I of England. Scotland is now irretrievably part of the Union with England and Wales. Because Queen Elizabeth II maternal family are Scottish aristocrats. Because The Act of Union binds Scotland and England. Because The European Union views Scotland as a very small area on the outer fringes of Europe. Because Scotland is a poor area and needs to be helped by the rest of The UK. Because we are all here to serve humanity and we all find Nationalism distasteful. Because we in England find Scotland breathtakingly beautiful and don't want to loose it!

So Scotland has an independence referendum knowing full well at the time that a referendum on EU membership is going to happen in the not too distant future. They vote to stay within the UK therefore accepting that the UK might not remain in the EU after said referendum. They then vote in the EU referendum as a part of the UK they voted to remain in and some are now complaining because they didn't get their own way. This is madness, Scotland voted to remain in the UK and is now complaining about decisions taken as part of the UK. Sturgeon is just making a power play here, she wants unfettered control over Scotland, and she wants to wash away the SNP's embarrassment over their previous defeat. Sturgeon has no plan for getting Scotland in to the EU, and she's completely ignoring existing EU legislation under the pretence that this has never happened before. It hasn't happened before but the EU still have legislation in place in the event it does happen. Scotland can't join the EU while remaining part of a UK that's leaving, they also can't keep the membership of a country that's left. Scotland will need to join as a new country with all that entails, including mandatory membership of the Euro and mandatory implementation of the schengen zone. The oil reserves Scotland were planning on relying on last referendum are now gone, and Spain still has a huge vested interest in vetoing the membership of breakaway states due to their own internal problems with Catalonia. All these issues are before we even discuss the irony of complaining about the democratic legitimacy of a referendum and the sovereignty of the Scottish people while wanting to join an EU with very little democratic legitimacy, that saps away the countries sovereignty.

Scotland did not know that the uk government would have a referendum on EU no one knew because Cameron decided to have it in he's manifesto before the general election in May 2015, the Scottish referendum was in 2014. With the majority of Scotland voting to stay in EU and now uk being out of EU the circumstances for Scotland have changed. Scottish people must be given the chance to vote in another referendum in the next 2/3 years that is the democratic and right thing to do, personally I want Scotland to stay in uk I think we are stronger together but England cannot block the referendum you must uphold democracy even when it hurts you. This all start with when Scotland,Wales and Northern Ireland got devolution powers there was always the chance of these nations wanting independence it's a slippery slope once you open the door. England must not act dictators and block independence referendum, if England wants Scotland to remain in uk then we should campaign for it.

Legally the United Kingdom is a two partner union of equally sovereign K-I-N-G-D-O-M-S. (Note the term kingdoms does not spell C-O-U-N-T-R-Y. and the Treaty of Union united Kingdoms.

She has wanted a second referendum since the first one. She wasn't happy with the result so now she is trying to make it an EU issue. What was Scotland thinking to take part in the EU Referendum if it never believed in respecting the outcome of that vote? If the Scottish people were so much against being in the UK they should have all refrained from taking part in the referendum and then they could actually have an arguement for Scotland being independent. Nope, instead they accepted the referendum, took part in it and only now, that it doesn't go the way they wanted it to are they calling to leave the UK, once again. Sorry to burst your bubble Scotland, but a country of 5 million people can never raise enough tax to be in the position Scotland is in now by being part of the UK. The fact is England, a country of 50 million people generates much more tax than any other country in the UK and most of our tax money goes to Scotland, Northern Ireland and Wales. So please, go ahead and leave but don't expect us to treat you the same as we do now. We won't be sending any more of our tax money to you, so your Scotish Government will have to rely on the tax it collects from 5 million people to fund itself. Don't expect us to give you priority on living and working in the rest of the UK either. Scottish citizens will find themselves needing a visa or work and residence permits. Don't expect to be able to easily drive across the border into England. Also, don't expect us to provide you with airfroce cover, military or anything else. Go join the EU, let them tell you what to do and when you see that the rest of the UK is doing very well in 5 years time, don't try and run back to us asking to come back. Once you are out, you're gone. Frankly, I've had enough of hearing Scottish people whine and complain about England when it's our tax money you are using to benefit your citizens up there. Goodluck being on your own!
