Ting Lu is, yet again, a Pokemon that I myself and Zasterly had tested before Season 2 was even conceived! Ting Lu is supremely bulky, it's not even funny. The difference is it's much easier to kill on the Special side without it's Item of Ruin ability. It would really like the Rock type, but being immune to Psychic and being a Ground type means Alakazam is literally your bitch. No Psychic or TWave, it has to use Seismic Toss. STAB Earthquake Body Slam Rock Slide / Substitute Rest Are a really solid set, and having Ruination will mean it can delete a Pokémon for free on switch. It means you don't need to predict as much, and makes Ting Lu pretty damn easy to play. That being said, it doesn't need it. You know who WILL need it? #JusticeForWo-Chien 🙏🏼

It's kinda crazy how Ting Lu could completely wall a lot of Mewtwo sets too, since it's immune to both thunderbolt and psychic It'd force players to run ice beam too

I think ruination would be good on this thing, guaranteed damage on zapdos and grasses

So the main thing rhydon would likely be used for with ting lu around is to consistently kill paralyzed chansey in 2 hits, which ting lu, having golems attack doesnt consistently do - however, it being faster means it outspeeds chansey, and being immune to thunder wave + having better special means that it switches in on chancey easier, and if the chansey is slightly chipped then it cant really do anything but dpam soft boiled until its out - and this would likely be common, whith chansey coming in on an alakazam or starmie to soak a special hit, then clicking t wave meaning ting lu gets an easy switch in. If chansey were to click softboiled then it would waste pp - however it could go for the read and use ice beam... but that is a risk the chansey has to take that could result in your chansey being in an even worse position should you misread. I think that if you run ting lu. It would likely synergize well with lapras or cloyster- having a times 4 ice resist that ting lu can switch into is super helpful, and likely also allows it to further forgo rock slide. Now oddly, i think that ting lu might would give more reason to run some dumb pokemon like victreebel, venusaur, articuno, pinsir, machamp or poliwrath. Just a random assortment of dudes that handle certain sets of ting lu better, like setting up sd or amnesia, or just chunking it for fat stab damage. Not sure that would be healthy for the meta though lol As for wo chien... i guess it has reflect+growth+mega drain..? A uh, stellar moveset for gen 1, im sure.

Assuming I calced "Rhydon" correctly, Ting Lu would deal 47-56% damage, or an 83% chance for a 2HKO. Not guaranteed, but like hell it matters, especially if the paralyzed Chansey is chipped already. Eggy may unironically run Rest more now. Lu hits for a 5 hit with Body Slam, and while Eggy can't tuch you, since DE has pitiful damage, you can at least use that to heal up, which is something. Do not bring up Leech Seed or I unsubscribe
