If Titanic didn’t hit the ice berg, it would have either been sunk in WWI by the Germans or it would have been scrapped in the 1930s like the Olympic. Nobody would remember it existed today except for a few ocean liner fans.

The far better and more relevant question would be this: What if the 90% scale model built in Rosarita (BC Mex) was not scrapped for cost recovery by the film production company in 1997? It would be a money-making tourist attraction to this day. Without the success of "Titanic," the LOTR trilogy likely does not get green-lit. Titanic showed the studios that big investment in a good IP could pay handsomely. It brought us the Hobbit trilogy, and spawned other franchises that have dominated movie exhibitions ever since. Of course, the quality of these newer franchises is a matter for an entirely separate debate.

If the Titanic had never sunk, she and her sister Olympic would have been scrapped, bringing much-needed work to people in need during the Great Depression. White Star was in financial problems at the time and was forced to merge with Cunard, thus maintaining an older liner would have been extremely costly and not worth it. If she were to however be miraculously saved from scrapping, she would have been auctioned off and would be either at the White Star Pier in Southampton or in New York or even bought by another line and be rebranded.

That's not exactly true; during WW1, White Star Line's long-time rival Cunard lost a ship named the RMS Lusitania, which was still performing commercial journeys with paying passengers on board, but she was sunk by a German torpedo while en route from the United States to the United Kingdom. Following the incident, 1,195 passengers died. Not to mention Titanic's sister ship, the HMHS Britannic, which would not have had extra safety precautions put in her design if Titanic had not sunk. Britannic lost 30 souls out of the 1,066 persons on board when her sinking from a mine off the Greek island of Kea. More people would have died if the Titanic had never sunk, as opposed to only 30.

Man I’m a huge fan of Titanic but if the ship never sunk? We may not even have the movie or all of those passengers may have all been saved. If the titanic had seen the iceberg eariler and if the captain did not ignore the warnings then this accident could’ve been avoided. Also when they built the ship they put iron rivets instead of Steel which was a big mistake on there part big time.

-Jack and rose were actually fictional characters, Joseph Dawson was a boiler room worker on the ship. -Empire State Building would’ve never been built since a passenger doesn’t sell his nyc hotel. -We wouldn’t even care about the Titanic because it would’ve been used during WWI and maybe WWII and we would just read of its history as a warship. -Ships would not have as many lifeboats as it does now due to no event causing the regulation.

If the Titanic never sunk, it would have continued to operate as a passenger liner. However, it is important to note that the Titanic was not the only ship of its kind, and other ships like the Lusitania were also lost at sea. If the Titanic had not sunk, it is possible that the tragedy would not have led to the creation of new international regulations requiring ships to carry enough lifeboats to hold every crewmate and passenger . It is also possible that the Titanic would have been requisitioned for the war effort during World War I, like its sister ships the Britannic and the Olympic. As for what it would be today, it is difficult to say. The Titanic was a technological marvel of its time, but it would likely have been surpassed by newer and more advanced ships in terms of speed, size, and amenities. It is possible that the Titanic would have been preserved as a museum or tourist attraction, much like other historic ships such as the USS Constitution or HMS Victory. I hope this helps!

You know if titanic never sank in 1912 than they wouldn’t have delayed the redesign in Britannic and it could be possible that maybe in 1913 the Britannic may suffer the titanic fate on sinking on the maiden voyage or maybe it wouldn’t the possibility are endless but unfortunately we live in the world where it did sink but it taught us a viable lesson on life at sea and the number for enough lifeboats for everyone and the height of watertight bulkheads. Basically every safety feature and the one statements I 100% agree on is if Titanic never sank then a other ship would and it would take the place as the need for the updates(which is why I believe would have been the Britannic as it would have been operational by 1913)

If the Titanic never sank, one of the two things would have happened, either it would have gotten attacked by the Germans, maybe even turned into a hospital ship, or would have been retired and sold for scrap somewhere in the 1930s.. Titanic would not be as popular if it never sank on it's maiden voyage.. I haven't watched the video yet, But I would assume you would say the same thing...

It would have been, especially had Britannic survived WWI, the unremarkable middle child. Britannic would be the one anyone would remember, Olympic would have been the first, and Titanic just would have been there. That scenario was already well into play well until just less than a half hour to go on April 14, 1912. The biggest change in our current timeline might have been White Star "winning" the merger with Cunard and the construction of the Oceanic and everything that would follow. But even that is highly speculative.

Same thing that happened to every other ship from that era - the scrapper's torch and obscurity. Titanic would be the forgotten middle child of the Olympic Class (see the SS Vaterland and the Imperator Class). It would've been scrapped along with Olympic and Mauritania due to the surplus of old ships that Cunard White Star had at the time. There's a chance Britannic would've been in a different place and time had its construction not been delayed and it would've had a similar career to Aquitania.

Probably not, her sister Britannic was sunk during the first world war and barely gets any recognition in the ocean liner community. But to answer your question, no. If the Titanic never sank the way she did. Many of the safety regulations would have stayed the same at least for a while. She would also not be as famous as she would become. It’s possible she would have been a troop transport or hospital ship like her sisters during the First World War. Then would have been scrapped and all memory of her would be lost to time. Even Britanic if not for the Titanic would have sunk and been just another ship lost due to mines or U-boats. Simply another casualty of the war. It’s due to the way she sank and the loss of so many high profile men and women as well as the numbers in general lost when she went down that she has stayed in our thoughts all these years. If she did survive the war or wars she would not become a museum ship if anything the Olympic would have been as she was the 1st of the class. Even Olympic was scrapped it was all about money then nothing more. That’s what would have happened to Titanic if she never sank.

I wonder if things would have been different if the captain or others at White Star would have read that novel that predicted an ocean liner with a similar name going down a similar way. We know they were trying to reach N.Y. in a near record time, would they have slowed down a little or taken a less risky more southern route to avoid icebergs. 🤔 This story will continue to fascinate generations to come, maybe because it's a metaphor for our own life's journey with the difference being the size of the leak.(length in time)😉

Lifeboats had a different purpose at the time. They were meant to ferry passengers off the damaged ship to another one nearby and then that rescue ship would've assisted in the evacuation by lowering their lifeboats, so basically it would go back and forth between the two ships and not primarily just for abandoning ship. Secondly, Titanic wasn't owned by a cruise line, cruises and cruise ships didn't become a common thing until the 60s. Titanic was an oceanliner, they are two different things. Ocealiners are like a bus, they take you from point A to point B and run a regular schedule and have to be built strong enough to endure the harshest of conditions like plowing through rough seas. A cruise ship is like a floating party and the destination doesn't matter as much and can go on for several days and usually sail in good conditions.
